On behalf of the Zambian Dental Students Association (ZDSA), I wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who took part in our Open Clinic Fundraising Outreach Programme held at Trust Mart, Dollar Hill Mall.

Today marked the second and final day of this important initiative, and we are truly grateful for the overwhelming response from members and the public who contributed to making it a success.

Your participation demonstrated a shared commitment to community health, learning, and service. It was not only a service to the community but also a valuable learning experience for our Pre-clinical students, who had the opportunity to interact with their clinical seniors—an inspiring blend of motivation, mentorship, and hands-on exposure.

To all those who attended: thank you for showing up and supporting this noble cause. And to those who may have missed it, we encourage you to stay engaged and be part of our future activities.

Let’s continue pushing ZDSA to greater heights—together, we can!

‎Greetings Comrades,
‎We are Thrilled to announce that for the first time ever, ZDSA will be hosting the Youth Oral Health Summit with the tagline “Empowering Youths to be Drivers of Oral Health Promotion”, in September 2025.
‎
‎Oral health is a critical component of overall health and well-being, yet it remains one of the most neglected aspects of public health—particularly the underserved communities. In many communities, especially in low-resource settings, there is limited awareness and inadequate access to preventive oral health services. This leads to widespread dental problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral infections that negatively impact quality of life and contribute to broader health complications.
‎
‎Young people, particularly those in health-related academic programs, represent a dynamic and influential population capable of driving systemic change. When properly informed and equipped, youths can act as ambassadors of oral health within their schools, families, and communities. They can leverage peer influence, social media, and community outreach to raise awareness, promote healthy practices, and advocate for stronger oral health policies. However, there exists a gap in awareness, training, and engagement among youths regarding the importance of oral health as part of overall ell-being.

‎This summit is designed to inspire, educate, and empower youths to take active roles in shaping the future of oral health in their regions. By fostering leadership, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Summit aims to cultivate a generation of informed advocates committed to improving oral health outcomes and reducing health disparities in their communities.
‎
‎This program will bring together, Dental, Medical, Biomedical, Public/Environmental, Nursing/Midwifery, and all students in Health Related Programs and highschool students.
‎
‎We call upon the support of the populace in the planning of this wonderful event.
