Title: Hidden Dangers – A Plea for Justice

I am Lulumbi chanda kapumpa (Kay), an advocate for the safety and rights of our children across Zambia. Today, I raise my voice on behalf of two innocent children who have suffered a horrific and inexcusable tragedy.

In an unidentified residential area of Zambia, a horrifying incident has shaken our hearts and disturbed our peace. Colorful, pen-like objects seemingly harmless were found scattered on the ground. Out of innocent curiosity, two young children picked them up, unaware of the danger they carried. Moments later, the objects caused severe injuries, leaving the children bloodied, in pain, and traumatized.

Let me be clear these children are not suspects. They are victims. Victims of carelessness, or worse intentional harm.

These objects, which appear to be artistically crafted pens, may have hidden harmful mechanisms or chemicals. What should have been an ordinary day turned into a nightmare because someone allowed or intended these deadly items to be where children play.

We must ask the hard questions:

1. Who put those objects there?

2. Are more of them still out in our communities?

3. What is being done to protect other children from the same fate?

I am calling on the Zambia Police Service, Child Protection Units, and all relevant authorities to investigate this incident thoroughly and urgently. These children deserve justice, and the public deserves protection from such dangerous materials.

To parents, guardians, and community members: Please stay alert. Educate your children not to pick up strange objects. If you see suspicious items, report them immediately.

To those behind this act whether through neglect or intention know this: We are watching, and we will not be silent.

Let this be the last time a child suffers from something that should never have been there in the first place.

For the voiceless. For justice.

Defilement, GBV, r**e, and so**my are not just crimes they are deep wounds to our communities. Addressing them is essential because:

1. It protects the vulnerable, especially children and women.

2.It breaks the cycle of abuse by holding perpetrators accountable.

3.It helps survivors heal through justice and support.

4.It builds safer communities where everyone can live without fear.

5.It upholds human dignity and rights for all.

Silence enables abuse. Action saves lives.
Let’s speak up, stand together, and fight for a safer tomorrow.

Kay Advocacy Corner joined the voices of Solwezi today—voices of courage, pain, strength, and hope—as we marched to demand an end to defilement, gender-based violence, r**e, so**my, and every form of abuse that threatens our communities.

This movement is bigger than one event. It’s a call to action for every well-meaning individual to stand up, speak out, and protect the vulnerable. We are not backing down. We are not looking away. We are not giving up—because the lives and futures of our children depend on it.

This is our stand. This is our fight. And we will keep showing up.

“Silence protects the abuser. Action protects the survivor.”
I’m Kay — Lulumbi Chanda — and I say: enough is enough.
Defilement, r**e, and gender-based violence are not just personal tragedies — they are societal failures.
On April 15, walk with me from Kyawama Roundabout to the Provincial Administration to demand change, justice, and accountability.
Let’s turn pain into purpose, and voices into power.

Happy International Women's Day!

Today, we celebrate the progress made towards gender equality, but also acknowledge the work still to be done.

Gender equality is not just a women's issue, it's a human rights issue. It's about creating a world where everyone has equal opportunities, equal pay, and equal respect.

But we know that discrimination and abuse still hold many women back. That's why we're committed to continuing our fight for a world where:

Women have equal representation in leadership positions
Girls have access to quality education
Women are paid equally for equal work
Survivors of abuse are supported and believed

Join us in demanding a world where gender equality is a reality for all.
