ADCH PARTICIPATES IN REGION 1 CONFERENCE.
=========================================

Last week, Arthur Davison Children's Hospital participated in the Region 1 Conference, themed "Moving Together Towards Sustainable Quality Health and Care: Inspiring Improvement at All Levels of Health and Care." The event, which brought together healthcare professionals from the Copperbelt, Central, and Northwestern province, was graced by the Central Province Permanent Secretary, Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe.

We are happy to share that our participation in the Region 1 Conference allowed us to exchange ideas and best practices with other healthcare professionals, ultimately benefiting our patients and community.

Our team members did an excellent job representing our hospital. Special mentions to Kangwa Mumbi, who presented on our 5S project, showcasing our commitment to quality improvement and efficient healthcare delivery, and Patrick Chipengwe, who shared insights on TB case finding initiatives.

What's more, one of our presentations has been selected to proceed to the national conference in Lusaka next month. Congratulations to our team for their hard work and dedication to improving healthcare.

ADCH MAINTIANS SADCAS ACCREDITATION

Huge congratulations to the Laboratory Department at Arthur Davison Children's Hospital on maintaining their SADCAS accreditation!

But what does this achievement mean?

What is SADCAS?

The Southern African Development Community Accreditation Service (SADCAS) is a regional accreditation body that evaluates and certifies the competence of laboratories, certification bodies, inspection bodies, and other conformity assessment bodies. SADCAS aims to facilitate trade and protect health, safety, and the environment by ensuring that accredited bodies meet international standards

What does it entail to be accredited?

To be accredited by SADCAS, a laboratory must demonstrate its competence and adherence to international standards, such as ISO 15189 for medical laboratories. This involves:
- Meeting Quality Standards: Implementing a quality management system that ensures accurate and reliable test results.
- Competent Personnel: Employing staff with the necessary skills, experience, and training to perform specific tasks.
- State-of-the-Art Equipment: Using calibrated and maintained equipment to ensure precise test results.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly reviewing and updating procedures to maintain accreditation.
- External Evaluations: Undergoing periodic audits and assessments by SADCAS to ensure ongoing compliance.

By achieving SADCAS accreditation, Arthur Davison Children's Hospital's Laboratory Department has demonstrated its commitment to delivering high-quality diagnostic services, ensuring the trust and confidence of patients, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders.

Exciting News!

We're Happy to share that Arthur Davison Children's Hospital (ADCH) has been mentored by the Ministry of Health in a clinical mentorship program focused on vaccine safety surveillance.

This partnership has enabled our team to enhance their skills and knowledge in monitoring and responding to vaccine-related adverse events, ultimately improving patient care and safety.

A huge thank you to the Ministry of Health Zambia and Copperbelt Provincial Health office, Africa CDC and Expanded program for Immunisation(EPI) for their guidance and support. We're grateful for the opportunity to work together towards providing the best possible care for our young patients.

Today we were honoured to have recieved a generous donation from the Kalewa Ladies Club led by Brigadier General Dr Kapata Moyo.

The donation of diapers and cleaning material will go a long way in supplementing our efforts in caring for the children.
