Adrian Bolze Health Updates & Medical Fundraiser Page

Adrian Bolze Health Updates & Medical Fundraiser Page The first purpose of this page is to drive the fundraising necessary to meet Adrians medical costs both current & future on his long and complex journey ahead.

Informative health updates following Adrians medical treatment & journey to health after sustaining horrific injuries in his brutal Zw Byo home attack as well as updates to all FUNDRAISING events + DONATION platforms for the funds so desperately needed. This page was created by and is maintained by myself, Simon Bolze, Adrian's brother residing in the UK, together with assistance of an small edito

rial team in Byo. We have already been advised that Adrian requires further surgeries to his face & head as well as a knee replacement. Secondly, this page is to provide a daily update on Adrians medical journey, treatment, surgeries, and general well-being to all those concerned and making enquiries. I see this page also serving the purpose of a daily diary of sorts not only to everyone out there, but potentially for Adrian himself as and when. It’s also a terrific vehicle to acknowledge and thank the plethora people playing an invaluable role on this unexpected and extraordinary journey. Please note that for those who do not use Facebook, there are numerous WhatsApp groups being provided with the same daily update. If you would like the link to one of these groups, please just ask. IMPORTANT Reminder … Please understand 100% that Adrians assault is still CURRENTLY regarded by the AUTHORITIES as an OPEN and ONGOING case, therefore NO case or location questions can be asked OR answered on ANY form of media. With appreciation & thanks,

Simon Bolze (UK) & Adrian's FrontLine Support Teams (ZW)

Tuesday 9th July 2024

This is Simon, Adrian's brother. I am not sure what is going on, in regards to some new bank account for donations. I did NOT post any info about bank accounts recently . Also note that the GoFundMe account has been closed for some time and that we are not currently doing any fund raising schemes for Adrian.

Adrian is recovering well, despite having a break-in at his new house at Garden Park, 3 weeks ago where his phone, money and clothes were stolen whilst he was at home asleep. Adrian now has a new phone with the same number but only has managed to restore a few phone numbers, so do give him a call in case he doesnt have your number now.

We are in the process of selling off / clearing out all the books in the bookshop, so if there are books that you might be after, do visit the shop soonest, or contact Adrian or myself directly.

Regards Simon

Today marks the solemn 2nd anniversary of the brutal attack that forever altered Adrian's life and left an indelible mark on the lives of many others.

Moments ago, a photograph was captured at OM's, showcasing the remarkable strides Adrian has taken on his path to recovery.

To provide a brief update, following a successful surgery on his left leg early this year, Adrian has regained the ability to walk independently. Despite several surgeries on his left eye, there has been no progress in restoring its function as of yet, and it continues to require time for recovery. Unfortunately, his eyelids remain unable to close or blink. In his most recent procedure, Adrian's teeth were refitted, gracing him with a full, radiant smile. His left hand, severely affected by deep cuts, still possesses limited functionality, and the possibility of additional surgeries in the future remains uncertain (EG face, jaw).

Regrettably, Adrian's beloved Hillside home had to be sold. He has now found a new residence in a secure retirement village, where he has resumed his business activities. If any of you need any work done (EG tree felling, home improvements, etc), Adrian will be more than happy to hear from you.

Day 504, Mon, Feb 13th …

Greetings to all of Adrians’ family, friends & supporters.

Let’s start this looooong overdue update by saying, for those who may not know, today is Adrian’s 65th Birthday! 🥳

We are super duper pleased to report that His knee ligament operation done last year July was a success with the wonderful conclusion that He started walking unaided in early December.

Devastatingly, Adrians left eye still has no vision in spite of 2 operations and numerous specialist consultations, so we are left with the conclusion that only time will tell …

He still needs facial reconstruction, and to have his teeth fixed, but there are no plans in place for this at the mo.

Adrian has moved to a new home where he is comfy & cared for.

He has also restarted his tree felling business with his previous staff, and is able to accompany them to consult on particularly complicated felling jobs.

As always, The A Team say Thank YOU for continuing to be part of Adrian’s journey to health & independence.

Live healthily, do good & be kind❣️🍻🇿🇼

Day 314 - Wed, Aug 17th …
-
Hihi to Adrians’ family, friends & supporters,

Herewith the latest since our last update of July 13th …

Left eye … Adrian has had a consultation here in Byo with an American Doctor. Sadly the news is not good. They are not able to do anything more for Adrian’s left eye. The orbit was badly damaged. If they fix the orbit the eyelid will not close. If the eyelid does not close the risk of infection and eye loss is inevitable.

Left leg … The post operative leg brace is off, and Mr B is learning to balance and ultimately whizz around on crutches. Fantabulously, Adrian is in less pain now than he was before his mid-June leg ligament op.

Recreation … Adrian had a game of Bowls this last weekend - Happy days!

Byo Property … Understandably, downsizing & simplifying Mr B’s life is necessary in every way. Pls know that the Byo house in the suburb of Matsheumhlope is on the market. It is well located & specifically equipped for Byo City Council Municipal & Zesa Power challenges. Unfortunately, the A Team find themselves in the invidious position of potential buyers arranging viewings,
but not materializing. Photos & property details are of course available. Pls feel free to enquire.

As always, The A Team say Thank YOU for continuing to be part of Adrian’s journey to health & independence.

Live healthily, do good & be kind❣️🍻🇿🇼

Day 279 - Wed, July 13th …
-
Hihi to all of Adrians’ family, friends & supporters.

Here is Mr B’s latest update …

Left eye … The infection mentioned in our last update, has been treated successfully, but his highly anticipated eye surgery has not yet been re-scheduled. We’ll be able to update again in 2 weeks time after his consultation appointment so crossing fingers! 🤞🏻

Left leg … Adrian continues with his post surgery hospital checkups, recuperation & physiotherapy.

His recent checkup went positively with no sign of infection, scar healing well with his next consultation is in 3 weeks time, results of which we share soonest …👌🏻

Understanding Adrian’s lack of mobility and daily/nightly discomfort caused by his compulsory 6 week post operative leg brace wearing program, he is in fair spirits and is whiling away his ‘healing time’ constructively making bee hive frames. 🐝

He is in fact being sooo constructive that he is running out of materials sooner than expected and keeping suppliers on their toes. 😉

As always, The A Team say Thank YOU for continuing on Adrian’s journey to health & independence.

Live healthily, do good & be kind❣️🍻🇿🇼

Day 257 - Tues, June 21st …
-
Greetings to all Adrian Bolze family, friends, followers & supporters. It’s been horbo sleeps since our last update, but herewith the latest …

The disappointing news is that Mr B’s highly anticipated eye op that was scheduled several weeks ago had to be canceled due to an unexpected infection.

This infection has mostly cleared up, but the surgery has not been re-scheduled, but fingers & toes remain crossed.

The great news is that Adrian had his leg surgery on Friday as the paperwork and finance were fortuitously sorted in time.

The op was successful, but the knee brace is too short so they are looking for a longer one. Adrian has to remain in hospital until the longer brace is found, & when found, the brace will need to be worn for 6 weeks. Even tho Adrian is in pain, he is in good spirits.

Following Mr B’s hospital discharge, there will be several months of recuperation & physiotherapy, but this should result in a more mobile + potentially independent future for Adrian, which is huge.

As always, The A Team say ThankU for contributing, sharing & supporting Adrian’s amazing survival & tenacious journey to health.

Stay well and live healthy❣️🍻🇿🇼

Day 226 - Sat, May 21st …
-
Greetings to all Adrian Bolze family, friends, followers & supporters.

It has been maaany sleeps since our last update, but herewith the latest top to toe info:-

Mental state - Understandably unpredictable. A great deal has happened. A lot of strength has had to be found to have gotten thru from there to here from then to today. The road ahead remains long and potholed. Positivity is hard to maintain in a regular life so there are days and then there are days …

Face - Another surgery is due to Adrian's face & jaw, but only after his knee surgery, and there is hope that they will use this opportunity to replace Adrian's missing teeth.

Eyes - A few weeks ago, Adrian had a 2nd op on his left eye. This was to correct his vision. Disappointingly, after the standard healing period, it was discovered that expected result had not been realized, so the decision has been taken to replace the original artificial lens with another. Unfortunately, his left eye currently has an infection, so the 3rd surgery to his left eye has had to be postponed. It is sincerely hoped that following this lens change surgery that his LONG awaited specs can be prescribed & finally issued.

Voice - Adrian is able to converse & be understood by anyone in his company.

Hands - Mr B’s right hand has no major injuries so is naturally usable. His left hand is basically kaput. It has very little strength & is unable to properly hold anything. His thumb is not mobile enough to enable him to hold a fork properly, and his pinky has seemingly permanently curled inwards. No surgery is in the pipeline so we simply have to hope & pray that Adrian does his exercises to not only maintain the use he has, but strengthen both hands himself for the foreseeable future.

Legs - The exceedingly long awaited surgery on his legs is to take place very soon. This will involve a minimum of 2 surgeons and a post surgery hospital stay of approx 12-14 days. Following hospital discharge, there will be several months of recuperation & physiotherapy.

Accommodations - The same pleasant, pretty home-care type surroundings have remained the same since our last update, but change is in the air.

Investigation - Is ongoing.

Support - Adrian is aware of and deeply grateful for the emotional support listened to or read to him from everyone both near & far. He is very appreciative of the physical support from visitors. Adrian gets super teary when he tries to convey his thanks to EVERYONE EVERYWHERE for the financial support both small, medium & large that he has received this far.

Plea - Please continue to donate to Adrians medical health cause as and when you can. His relevant & necessary treatments + surgeries can only come to fruition when the finances are there to provide for them.

Thanks - The A Team would like to express their hugest thanks to those directly + indirectly around them, for the support that they too have been given thru this experience by friends + family without whom their involvement in Adrian’s journey would quite simply not be possible.

It really does take a village❣️

Thank you for reading this update. On behalf of Adrian and The A Team we say ThankU for reading this update, towing the Mr B line with us and please stay well, love fully & live purposefully - till next time … 🤗🌹🇿🇼

Day 165 - Thurs, Mar 10th …
-
Greetings to all Adrian Bolze family, friends, followers & supporters. It has been 24 sleeps since our last update.

Herewith the latest head to toe info:-

Face - Mr A will be undergoing Maxillofacial surgery in about a week's time to adjust a metal plate that has moved and caused a lump under his left cheek.

Eyes - Adrian is due to undergo corrective surgery today wt his left eye needing the most attention. The lens needs fixing and the muscles need adjustment to correct both the positioning and movement of the eyeball. At the moment, his right eye looks straight ahead but his left eye does not, it’s positioned downwards and outwards. As it turns out, Adrians highly anticipated prescription spectacles can’t be issued until his left eye is sorted.

Voice - Mr Bs voice remains different due to the injuries sustained to his mouth, but he has healed well enough to now communicate for himself.

Hands - The torture to his left hand was gruesome. The tendons were severed from between his fingers, thru his palm and down to his wrist. This has left his left hand unusable, irreversibly damaged and seemingly untreatable. Thankfully Adrian’s right hand even tho not 100s, remains usable.

Legs - Mr B is due to undergo leg surgery for the very first time in about 2 weeks. His left leg was severely hacked around the knee on both sides severing most tendons and causing massive damage to his knee cap. The severed tendons have healed in such a way they have caused his lower leg to splay sideways. This in turn has caused his lower leg to be misalignment to his upper leg which understandably has an enormous impact on his ability to walk. It is not easy, smooth or comfortable.

Physio - Adrian continues with his rigorous twice weekly routine.

Accommodations - Mr B is still in recuperative care, but is settled in his pleasant surroundings and his general health is stable.

Mental state - Understandably Adrian has bouts of frustration and depression mainly due to his lack mobility & freedom caused by the current state of his legs.

To compensate & keep him buoyant, we frequently remind him that he has many friends and supporters out there who continue to follow his challenging but extraordinary journey to health.

Improving Adrians eyesight will be a gargantuan leap forward, as he will be able to read the plethora of Text messages, WhatsApp messages and Facebook posts for himself, which will surely be of great comfort, upliftment and motivation. We sooo look forward to that day for him!

Attack investigation - There has been no headway made as yet.

As always, THANK YOU for your care, enquiries & support, and “The A Team” send their best to U & yours … 🇿🇼

Day 140 - Sun, Feb 13th …
-
Greetings to all Bolze family, friends, followers & supporters,

We are very aware that it has been 21 sleeps since our last update. Apologies for that, but we’re sure you’ll agree that life has a way of just keeping on, and our job is to do our best to simply keep up!

To start off with, TODAY was Adrian's 64th birthday, and a celebratory pool party was very generously hosted for him by close friends, so happy days for that, and we wish Adrian many more! 🥳

The general situation has been a little unsettling as Adrian has had a few set-backs....

Left eye - We are sad to report that He has no vision in his left eye at all. Mr A will prob have to wait a month whilst we await a second opinion from a Us trained specialist before a possible surgery to correct the vision in his left eye can be performed.

Right eye - Adrian says that he can see generally, but not definitively with his right eye and unfortunately his highly anticipated spectacles to help correct this are still not ready.

Left hand + legs - Adrian is due to see an orthopaedic surgeon in the next two weeks to assess his hand and legs. Unfortunately, other than Physiotherapy, nothing else is able to be done at the mo to surgically correct the damage until funds are raised to cover said surgeries.

Having said that, in tenaciously keeping up with his physiotherapy, Adrian managed - for the first time just last week - to stand up entirely on his own. This is an incredible and well earned achievement yes?!

Adrian specifically asked for the following message from him to be shared with you all … “All support and moneys received so far have been greatly appreciated and l would like to thank EVERYONE who has donated and let them know that I'm getting there slowly slowly and hopefully I'll be well soon".

On a different but relevant topic, should anyone know of anyone looking for a large beautiful Bulawayo home, established garden, & swimming pool with all the necessary practical zim lifestyle bells & whistles (borehole, water tanks, solar & generator) in a jolly desirable location, please give “The A Team” a shout as the decision has been taken to put Mr B’s now not so practical house on the market for sale.

We hope you & yours are all keeping well, and as always, thank you for sharing this journey with us.

🤗😘🇿🇼
