Certificate of Competence in Mental Health Crisis Support Practices® (MHCSP™) Course for Couples

World Mental Resilience Programs

Learn how to discuss issues within your relationship/marriage aiming to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen your bond by addressing underlying patterns and concerns through Mental Health Crisis Support Practices Course training for couples.

Key aspects of MHCSP Course for Couples include capacitation and skills to:

Discussing relationship history:
Exploring significant events and experiences that may be impacting the current dynamic.

Communication patterns analysis:
Identifying unhealthy communication habits and learning healthier ways to express needs and concerns.

Conflict resolution strategies:
Developing tools to navigate disagreements constructively and reach compromises.

Exploring emotions:
Identifying and expressing emotions openly and honestly to better understand each other's perspectives.

Setting goals:
Establishing clear objectives for improving relationship/marriage wellbeing, such as improving trust, intimacy, or overall relationship satisfaction.

Practicing new skills:
Role-playing scenarios to practice new communication techniques and behaviors learned in MHCSP Course training.

Overview
Some common approaches to MHCSP Course for Couples include approaches focusing on different aspects of communication, conflict resolution, and emotional connection within a relationship.

Key points about each approach:

1️⃣. Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds by identifying negative interaction patterns and addressing underlying attachment needs within the relationship.

2️⃣. Emphasizes improving communication, managing conflict, and building positive interactions between partners through practical tools and techniques.

3️⃣. Aims to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to relationship problems, promoting healthier communication strategies.

4️⃣. Focuses on transforming conflict into healing and growth by exploring unconscious parts of each partner through behavioral and spiritual techniques.

5️⃣. Helps couples identify and change self-defeating narratives that may be hindering their relationship by focusing on how they tell their story.

6️⃣. Concentrates on finding solutions to specific, well-defined problems within the relationship rather than addressing broad issues.

7️⃣. Explores unconscious dynamics and early childhood experiences that may influence current relationship patterns.

Learning Outcomes
After the training one is expected to be able to tailor design, develop, implement and review mental health related interventions for couples of different age groups.

WHY EVERY CONVERSATION MATTERS?

Every conversation can be a turning point in someone’s mental health journey.

A conversation grounded in cultural competence and cultural safety, compassion, care and non-judgemental listening can let someone know they are not alone and empower them to seek the support they need.

A CONVERSATION CAN OFFER THE FOLLOWING:

⏺️Provide a lifeline to support: Many people struggling with their mental health feel alone and are unsure how to ask for help. Knowing what to say can guide them toward the help they need.

⏺️Reduce stigma: Engaging in open, culturally competent and culturally safe, non-judgemental conversations about mental health can help change the narrative, encouraging people to speak up and seek help.

⏺️Open the door to future conversations: Even if there is someone who might not need help now, letting them know you care can create a safe space for them to reach out when they are ready. Whether it’s a friend, family member, colleague or even a stranger, knowing what to say when someone is struggling with their mental health can make all the difference.

THE POWER OF A CONVERSATION

Just as physical first aiders know how to provide initial assistance in a medical emergency, Mental Health Crisis Supporters are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health problems or crises. You can be part of inspiring stories from Mental Health Crisis Supporters who are making a difference, one conversation at a time.

When someone you know is struggling with their mental health, it can be difficult to know what to say. You might feel uncertain about how to approach the conversation or worry about saying the wrong thing. With Mental Health Crisis Support, learning to provide support can be easy.

We’ve created an e-guide to help you get started on your journey to supporting others.
