Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in the uterus of women of child-bearing age. One can have a single or multiple uterine fibroids. They can be detected during a pelvic exam or ultrasound. Fibroids vary in size, and those that grow very big can distort the inside or outside of the uterus, sometimes filling the pelvis or stomach area, and make the patients look pregnant.

Some symptoms include:
•Heavy menstrual bleeding or painful periods
•Pelvic pain
•Fertility problems
•Growing stomach area
•Constipation
•Frequent urination or trouble urinating
