WARNING SIGNS OF STROKE
Stroke happens when blood flow to a part of the brain suddenly stops, and brain cells start dying within minutes.
It can happen to anyone, anytime. Many people don’t recognize the early signs, and delays make treatment harder.
Quick action improves survival and reduces long-term disability.
Understanding the warning signs can save someone’s life, maybe even yours.
These are the signs
🔑 FACE DROOPING
Sudden drooping on one side of the face. If the person tries to smile and one side doesn’t move well or looks uneven, think stroke.
🔑 ARM OR LEG WEAKNESS
Sudden weakness or numbness in the arm or leg, especially on one side. If they try to lift an arm and it drops or feels heavy, get help.
🔑 SPEECH TROUBLE
Speech may sound slurred, confused, or they can’t find simple words. They may not understand you when you talk.
🔑 SUDDEN CONFUSION
The person may look lost or act like they don’t know where they are. This is not normal forgetfulness, it happens suddenly.
🔑 VISION PROBLEMS
Blurred sight, double vision, or sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes. This may look like darkness or a “curtain” coming down.
🔑 SEVERE HEADACHE
A sudden, very strong headache with no clear cause. Some describe it as the worst headache of their life.
🔑 BALANCE AND COORDINATION
Sudden dizziness, trouble walking, staggering, or falling unexpectedly can be a sign the brain is not getting enough blood.
🔑 WHAT TO DO IMMEDIATELY
Call emergency services right away. Do not wait or hope it will pass. Note the exact time symptoms started. Stay with the person. Do not give food, drinks, or medicine until they are checked.
🔑 FAST REMINDER
F – Face: Ask them to smile. One side may droop.
A – Arms: Ask them to raise both arms. One may fall or feel weak.
S – Speech: Ask them to repeat a simple sentence. It may sound slurred or strange.
T – Time: Call emergency services immediately. Every minute matters.
