November being Men’s Health Month presented new opportunities for our team to further engage with and support communities.
We had the special opportunity to participate at the Men’s Health Engagement Service Day held at the Midlands Private Hospital on the 22nd November, 2025. The Midlands Private Hospital is a highly esteemed medical centre for the province. Thank you Dr. Julia Mutambara and PORE Counselling Services for the collaborative support, which added to the mental health awareness and psychological support offered to participants. As the saying goes “we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided." This was definitely the case as the team showcased the various areas of psychological specializations as well as their areas of synergized collaboration.
Men often find it difficult to ask for help and or shy away from discussing mental health issues. However, our team was encouraged by the openness and receptiveness of the community members we engaged with.
What became evident through our activities on the day is that (i.) there is a grave need in communities for professional psychological support, (ii.) most persons are unaware of psychological services offered and (iii.) most persons do not know where to access professional psychological services.
Work remains a space of social interaction (physical, virtual). Unaddressed mental heath concerns can either stem from the work environment or from life outside of ‘work’. Regardless of their cause these mental health concerns can and most likely will have an impact on work, productivity, physical health as well as social life (family, friends).
As with most things in life and health, early detection is always preferred. Be encouraged to seek professional help if needed.

“You are your greatest asset!”
