St Daniels Rehab We facilitate the provision of a holistic community based approach for children with disabilities

St Daniels Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre facilitate the provision of a holistic community based approach in ensuring that children living with disabilities together with their families realise their full potential. The process of including a child with a disability in society as a whole begins with access to everyday experiences in the home setting, with parents and caregivers playing a central role. There exists, therefore, a great potential for communities to learn from one another. When the resources represented by other children, families, adults, teachers and community workers are drawn upon, all persons with disabilities, including children and adults with severe impairments, can make a valuable contribution to the life of their community. ACTIVITIES:
 To raise awareness in the community on disability in children.
 To provide professional counselling and rehabilitation services to the children with disabilities and their systems.
 To facilitate access to basic education and vocational training to children with disabilities.
 To undertake need based research and advocate for rights of children with disabilities.
 To provide specialist services to abused children with disabilities.
 Strengthen self help groups for parents with children living with disability.

St. Daniel's Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre hosted an inspiring event, "Empowering Caregivers of Children with Disabilities through Collective Action and Inclusive Leadership." This impactful initiative aimed to foster sustainable change through grassroots involvement and advocacy. Our esteemed guest speaker, BM Sikombingo delivered a powerful address, emphasizing the importance of collective action and inclusive leadership in empowering caregivers of children with disabilities. His -thought-provoking words resonated deeply with our audience.
The event also launched our innovative "Search Your Wardrobe" initiative, designed to promote sustainable living and community engagement. By encouraging individuals to repurpose and reuse existing resources, we can reduce waste, promote environmental awareness, and foster a culture of social responsibility.
This event demonstrated our commitment to empowering caregivers and promoting inclusive leadership. By working together, we can create a more compassionate and supportive community that values the contributions of all individuals, regardless of their abilities.
We invite you to join us in our mission to empower caregivers, promote inclusive leadership, and foster sustainable change. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their caregivers.

Autism Awareness Month: Let's Celebrate Acceptance!

April is Autism Awareness Month, and we're taking a moment to recognize the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals with autism.

Autism is not something to be "cured" or changed; it's a natural part of human diversity. Let's focus on acceptance, understanding, and inclusion.

Here are some ways you can make a difference:

- Learn about autism and its effects on individuals and families
- Use respectful language and avoid stereotypes
- Support autism-friendly initiatives and organizations
- Be patient and understanding with those who may communicate or interact differently

St Daniel's Rehabilitation Centre took it upon themselves to amplify awareness on Autism so as to pave way for better support for Children with Autism. On the 26th of April 2024, St Daniel's Rehab had its Autism Commemorations event where Children with Autism and their caregivers were in attendance . The event was also graced by local leaders including the Chief, Councilor and Bishop Mkwanda at the piece of land where St Daniels Rehab envisions to build a Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre with the support of friends like you❤️. Through this event the organisation managed to raise awareness in the community in a bid to reduce stigma on children with Autism and other disabilities. The community was encouraged to support children with disabilities so that they can reach full potential.

It was a day filled with joy and testimonies as caregivers took turns to narrate their journey in caring for a child with Autism and how their children have developed over the years through the therapy initiatives that are conducted by St Daniel's Rehab.

Let's create a world where everyone can thrive and feel valued!
