Earlier this month a total of 6,686 suspected and 1,127 confirmed cases had been reported. More than 6,200 people had recovered while the total number of suspected or confirmed cholera-related deaths had reached 150.

Cholera is an easily treatable disease. The majority of people can be treated successfully through prompt administration of oral rehydration solution (ORS).
Severely dehydrated patients are at risk of shock and require the rapid administration of intravenous fluids. These patients need to be taken to the nearest community hospital or treatment center to be given appropriate antibiotics to diminish the duration of diarrhea.

Zimbabwe is currently facing a cholera outbreak. As of this November, suspected and confirmed cases have been reported in all 10 provinces of the country and in 41 out of 62 districts, with the most alarming spikes being reported in the south-eastern provinces of Masvingo and Manicaland.

We encourage you to follow these steps to help stop the spreading of cholera.

Prevention
-Wash hands frequently with soap
-Avoid street food
-Do not eat raw or half cooked meat
-Drink treated purified water
-Maintain good sanitation
