Spent some time this week speaking to the incredible Maggie Empress, Country Director for Grassroots Reconciliation Group in Uganda. They work with former child soldiers, children born in captivity and survivors of gender based violence (GBV), particularly due to the war involving the LRA.
She was so full of knowledge, with massive insight into holistic trauma healing and resilience building, group work, community level work and breaking the cycles of violence. We compared notes on our experiences of 'peace building', transitional justice, and 'collective healing' within the African context. Check out their work for some inspiration.
