Your doctor has just informed you that your baby is in breech presentation and you are worried.

It means the baby's buttocks or feet are positioned to come out first. In the normal presentation, the head is delivered first.

Breech occurs in about 3-4% of full-term pregnancies. Causes include premature birth, placental abnormalities, twin pregnancy, uterine abnormalities, and more.

During delivery, these babies are at risk of birth injuries and poor outcomes. They have a high chance of being delivered by caesarean section for their safety.

Your healthcare provider will guide you in deciding the safest delivery options and any interventions that may be necessary.

Cervical cancer screening has greatly reduced the prevalence and deaths from this disease. Lack of screening is an important risk factor.

Screening tests will vary from place to place, but there are 3 types.

1. Cytology (Pap Smear): A sample of cells is collected from the cervix to check for abnormal changes.

2. HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Test: A test that detects the presence of high-risk types of HPV that can cause cervical cancer.

3. Visual Tests (VIAC, VILI): The doctor applies a substance on the cervix and visually examines for changes suggestive of cancer.

All these tests are simple, painless, and take less than 5 minutes. A positive screening test does not mean you have cancer. It means you have a higher chance of having the disease. You will be offered treatment, or an additional test to confirm or rule out the disease.

Don't wait until it's too late! Get screened regularly if you are between 21 and 65 years old. If above 65, you should also be screened if you have never been screened before.
