Society For Pre and Post Natal Services (SPANS)

Society For Pre and Post Natal Services (SPANS) Our aim to promote good mental health care across the life cycle What does SPANS do? The current platform offers our services in the following ways:
a). b).

SPANS, the Society for Pre and Post Natal Services, support the reproductive age group to have the necessary education and information about their choices. Our service allows them an opportunity to freely discuss social issues, prevention and best practices to make empowered decisions for their life. We offer help while discussing social issues that affect them daily and in the future. provide one

-on-one risk assessments , family therapy and counseling to individuals and both sexes of reproductive age and support system involvement. Provide the most current information to the public on sexual reproductive, menstrual hygiene management and possible risks by advancing the knowledge base, synthesizing research, and developing resources to communicate findings; and
c). Using other innovative platforms for widespread dissemination of information such as social media (Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, etc.); and
d). Partnering with other organizations serving the target populations to promote use of social media
e). Follow-ups and referrals
d). Community awareness through (road shows and talks shows
f) Monitoring and evaluation

Talk shows:
SPANS bring topical issues to the forum and invited participants are given the platform to discuss their experiences. They feel able to share their personal view in a free environment where ideas are debated without undermining one's views. Road shows:
This approach gives those who cannot afford to come for the talk shows a program delivered to their doorsteps. SPANS collaborate with Community Radio by bringing in musicians with songs that is uplifting, especially for the females. Through enjoying music and dancing, their minds relax and they’re able to share their issues more freely. Camping-:
The idea of camping is to see, monitor and evaluate the SPANS approach of confidence building, especially for the girls and young women. This provides a better opportunity to gain a better perspective of their behaviors when they are out of their controlled environment. In doing so through the three approaches above, SPANS will be giving educational information on relationship building, social issues affecting them on daily basis, HIV and AIDS awareness. Our services have proven to empower the reproductive age group to have confidence in saying “NO” to whatever they feel is an abuse to them. Self-esteem is essential for decision making on issues that affect them like being deprived of education, forced marriages and to be used as sex objects and more. SPANS have a vision towards “ensuring a healthy and well-functioning reproductive age group able to cope with challenges relating to relationship building, marriage, child bearing and care.

What if every waiting room came with a little more compassion?

Less than 15% of those struggling with maternal mental health conditions ever reach out for help. Often, it’s not because they don’t want to... it’s because they don’t know where to go, or if they’ll be met with understanding.

That’s why we are developing the Blue Dot Safe Spot.

This new program trains medical providers and their staff from OB offices and pediatric clinics to school nurses and community health centers. Each trained location becomes a designated Blue Dot Mental Health Safe Spot, visibly signaling to mothers that they are heard and cared about.

When a provider can recognize the signs of a Perinatal Mental Health Disorder and respond with knowledge, empathy, and resources, it can change, or even save, a life.

What do Kylie Kelce, Cardi B and Alanis Morissette all have in common?

They've all been open about their battles with perinatal mental health.

We are forever thankful for those with a megaphone that use it to show the masses that these disorders do not discriminate. No amount of money or fame make someone immune.
