When choosing gifts for children, excitement can overshadow safety.
Some toys can accidentally expose little ones to eye injuries, especially those with sharp edges, flying parts, or strong lights.
This festive season, choose toys that are fun and safe for their developing eyes.

Safe driving starts with good visibility and good timing.

When planning your festive season travel, try to drive during the day when visibility is naturally clearer. Night-time driving reduces depth perception, slows reaction time, and increases glare, so choosing daylight hours can make your journey safer and more comfortable.

Before you set off, check that your headlights, brake lights, and indicators are working properly.

And whenever possible, avoid peak traffic times to reduce stress and congestion.

Travel safely this festive season.

Fostering disability-inclusive communities means creating spaces where everyone can learn, work, and thrive. Many visual challenges are not visible, yet they still affect daily life.

By raising awareness and supporting access to quality eye care, we help people with visible and invisible visual disabilities fully participate in society.

At the Eye Institute, we are committed to patient-centred care that supports everyone’s vision.

Restoring Vision in the Midlands
From one city to three — what a journey! This year, the Eye Camp expanded from Manicaland to Harare and now the Midlands. As we wrap up in the Midlands, we celebrate the lives transformed and the vision restored across our communities.

A heartfelt thank you to Old Mutual Zimbabwe for partnering with us to make this possible.

Yesterday, we had the honour of hosting the Honourable Minister of State for Midlands Province, Hon. Owen Ncube, at the first-ever Midlands Eye Camp held at Midlands Private Hospital. This was a significant moment in extending this life-changing programme to more communities.

In his address, the Minister highlighted how the Eye Camp, made possible through Old Mutual Zimbabwe ’s partnership and The Eye Institute’s expertise, is bringing specialised eye care closer to people who need it most and strengthening access at provincial level.

His visit underscored the real heart of the programme: the lives changed, the families supported, and the renewed hope brought to our communities, one restored vision and one restored life at a time.

Household chemicals can be more dangerous than they look. Always keep them tightly sealed, stored out of children’s reach, and away from your face when using them.

If a chemical accidentally enters your eye:
🚰 Rinse immediately with clean water for at least 10–15 minutes
🚑 Seek medical attention right away

Protect your vision — prevention starts at home.

Making a Difference at Chisuma Primary School — in Partnership with the Jafuta Foundation 👓
Last week, we were pleased to complete a journey that began in March with eye screenings by Eyepod and the Jafuta Foundation. Our Victoria Falls Eyepod optometrist, Gracious, proudly handed over spectacles to the learners of Chisuma Primary School.

Thanks to the support of Pamozi Trust and JCI, these children can now see the world with renewed clarity and confidence.

Your Vision, Our Mission.
