A new baby massage class is starting next week. Classes run for 5 weeks, every Wednesday morning. Message me if you would like to join online or in person.

This year, on the International Day of Infant Massage and Nurturing Touch we are talking about respectful touch.
⁣
By always beginning massage with the ritual of asking permission, and learning to understand your baby's cues, we can respond respectfully depending on their answer. This way your baby learns empathy, healthy respectful touch and that they are valued. Babies are imitators and this mutual understanding of worth goes a long way. ⁣
⁣
The more we ask the question, the more it is understood and your baby can answer yes or no to massage time. There is safety in respecting these cues. ⁣

The ritual of permission:
Pour a small amount of massage oil into the palm of your hands. Rub and warm your palms together with a swishing sound that your baby can hear and see them. With still hands, show your palms and ask: May I massage you now, Baby (name)? Wait for a positive response to begin.

Please join us for free breastfeeding support group meetings _every first Thursday of the month_. You, your babies and children, and anyone who is interested in the love and wisdom of breastfeeding is welcome.
Meetings are an opportunity to meet and connect for mothers who are breastfeeding well and those facing challenges.
