A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough, is now on Netflix and it’s going to hit you, our fellow big-hearted, wildlife loving friends right in the feels 🖤

In 1979, Attenborough filmed a sequence with a baby mountain gorilla named Pablo in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. That moment was later voted one of the greatest television moments of all time! This documentary returns to Rwanda to find Pablo’s descendants and see what they’ve been upto since that famous clip.

The crew spent 250 days filming in the mountains. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, who we are supporting with our 2027 Uganda and Rwanda retreat have studied this specific gorilla family for nearly six decades. They served as scientific advisors so every behaviour you see on screen is real, understood, and deeply contextualised.

Mountain gorillas are now one of conservation’s rare success stories — the only great ape species whose population is actually increasing and we’re so honoured to be heading to Rwanda and Uganda next year to be a part of that exciting story 🙏🏻

A special shoutout to Yoga For The Wild supporter, friend and conservationist who worked in the production of Gorilla Story. Her excitement for this project was palpable and we’re so thrilled to see this come to life for you all at 🙌🏻

We started running group retreats because we love the magic that happens when strangers become a community in the wilderness, and the power this community creates for positive change is incredible.

But we also know that some trips are better taken with just your person. Or your family. Or your two best friends who've been talking about Africa for a decade.

Our Kenya private safaris are for you.

Same conservancies. Same lodges. Same commitment to ethical, conservation-first travel. No groups, no fixed dates. Just you and one of the most extraordinary wildlife destinations on Earth.

Minimum two people and available year-round. We've launched with two itineraries, both from $7,020 per person sharing.

Drop us a message at hello@yogaforthewild.com — tell us your dates and we'll do the rest. 🌿

There are two Kenyas.

The Kenya of the Masai Mara — famous, extraordinary, rightly celebrated. And the Kenya of the far north — vast, dramatic, almost entirely unknown to international visitors, and home to some of the most inspiring conservation and community work on the continent. This itinerary takes you to the latter.

Five nights at Ol Pejeta — private vehicle, private guide, lions, giraffe, elephants and more and a visit to the last two northern white rhinos on Earth. Then you'll head north, deep into remote Namunyak Conservancy for three nights at Sarara Lodge, where the Samburu people are your guides and the wilderness stretches to the horizon in every direction.

This is the itinerary for people who want to explore Kenya beyond the postcard.

We exist because we love wildlife and we believe wild animals deserve space on this planet as much as we do. They can’t fight it for it though, so we must. Everytime you travel you choose to support wildlife and conservation, or you don’t - the power really is in your hands. Our retreats take the work out of the research and make sure that your tourism dollars are funding boots on the ground initiatives that are driving lasting change for wilderness areas on our planet.

Thank you for being a part of it all ❤️

Something we've heard a lot since we started running our retreats five years ago is "I'd love to come, but the dates just never work."

We heard you.

Our Kenya Private Safaris are now live — two handpicked itineraries staying at the same lodges and conservation partners we've trusted for years, available at any time of year for you and your people: your partner, your family, your friends. Your own pace.

Every booking still funds active conservation — 15–18% goes directly into conservancy fees and 10% of our profit from private safaris is donated to our partners on the ground whom you will meet on your trip.

Two itineraries. All the details. Link in bio. 🌍

We're very proud supporters of in Zimbabwe's Mana Pools - one of the country's (and probably the continent's) best kept secrets 💚

handles critical, on-the-ground conservation operations that protect both the wildlife that call this magical land home, and the people in the surrounding communities that live alongside these animals.

Most notably, the team...
- recently supported the rescue and release of a pangolin
- deployed a rapid response team to track and intercept poachers
- they've been visiting local schools to educate over 300 children on the value of wildlife
- they're constantly working with local communities to find ways to mitigate human-wildlife conflict in the area
- their scholarship program is supporting 106 impoverished children who live in the Mana Pools southern boundary communities - covering the annual primary, secondary, and high school fees for these students.

Our October retreat to Zimbabwe (2 spots left) directly supports Bushlife - not only is Mana Pools an incredible safari destination with wildlife and wildlife encounters that will blow your socks off, your stay here at our host property Vundu Camp also directly contributes to Bushlife's work.

We’re going to the Maldives - not to “switch off” (that’ll happen anyway) but to pay better attention 💙

In November 2026, we’ll be sailing the northern atolls aboard a private live-aboard through the Baa and Raa Atolls, snorkelling in some of the most extraordinary marine habitat on earth.

Conservation in Action - a marine biologist from the Manta Trust will be on board for the entire trip. Every manta ray we encounter, we’ll log. We’ll learn how to spot pattern identification and make behavioural observations and all of it will be fed directly into the Manta Trust’s global monitoring database — real conservation research.

We’ll also practise sunrise yoga on the top deck each morning. We’ll watch whale sharks (fingers crossed!) drift beneath the surface at Hanifaru Bay — a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of the only places on Earth where dozens of manta rays feed together in shallow water.

This is going to be an extraordinary week!

Upper deck: fully booked.
Lower deck: 7 spaces remaining.

If the ocean is calling you, come join us 🌊

Welcome to Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula 🦎🐢🐬🐋🌿🐆🦉 (there aren’t enough emojis)

Holding a staggering 2.5% of the entire planet’s biodiversity in one tiny corner of the country (🤯), every rustle in the canopy and every footprint in the sand tells a story of survival.

From the prehistoric roar of Howler Monkeys at dawn to the electric flash of a Scarlet Macaw overhead, being here feels like stepping back in time 🐒🦜 (we need ALL of the emojis!)

Laura discovered this magical land last year and we decided almost immediately that we had to share it with you ❤️ Not only because of its sheer beauty (which is staggering) but because, with thanks to decades of protection under , species like the elusive Jaguar, the Baird’s Tapir and the adorable Lesser Anteater still have a sanctuary to call home 🐾 It’s one of the worlds best conservation success stories and we’ll be here in September/October 2027 to bear witness to the tale. Mark your calendars - more to come 💚
