📍 Mark 1:35–39

“Very early in the morning… Jesus went off to a quiet place and prayed.”

After everything that had been happening, Jesus took time alone before the day began. People were looking for him, but he chose to focus on what mattered most and continued his work. It shows how important it is to make time for what really matters, even when life feels busy.

Advancing Early Identification and Hearing Health in Makoni

Nzeve recently conducted hearing tests and early identification activities across Chimbike, Denzva, Chiduku, and Rusape General Hospital under the Early Intervention, Advocacy and Community Impact initiative, in partnership with the Rusape General Hospital Rehabilitation Department.

The outreach focused on identifying young children with hearing challenges, disabilities, and delayed developmental milestones, and linking them to appropriate services, including therapy and further assessments. Caregivers received informational counselling to better understand their children’s needs and the importance of early intervention.

Sessions also engaged pregnant and nursing mothers on children’s hearing health and developmental milestones, helping strengthen awareness of available health and rehabilitation services.

Through these engagements, communities are gaining the knowledge and support needed to ensure children are identified early and connected to services that support their growth, development and school readiness.

📍 Mark 1:29–34

“He took her by the hand and helped her up.”

Jesus went into someone’s home and saw a need. He helped her and she got better. Later, more people came, each needing help in their own way. This shows us how much it matters to care for one another in our everyday moments.

As part of our commitment to reducing gender-based violence through inclusive economic empowerment, Nzeve Deaf Centre recently trained Deaf young women in manicure and pedicure skills.

With support from WAVE (Women Against Violence Through Empowerment), in partnership with Family Support Trust and Adult_Rape_Clinic , the training equipped participants with practical skills, confidence and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

This is how we create inclusive opportunities and empower futures.

“He taught them as one who had authority.”

People listened and sensed something different something real. In that moment, there was a feeling of freedom, like a weight had been lifted. Sometimes, it’s the simplest moments that remind us change is possible.

World Down Syndrome Day 2026 | Together Against Loneliness

This World Down Syndrome Day, we join the global call to build communities where people with Down syndrome are not only present, but truly included, connected and valued.

Down syndrome occurs when a person has an extra partial or whole copy of chromosome 21, and access to health care, early intervention, and inclusive education is vital to supporting the growth, development and participation of people with Down syndrome (United Nations).

This year’s theme, “Together Against Loneliness,” highlights how loneliness disproportionately affects people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, as well as their families. It is a call for real inclusion in schools, workplaces and communities, where people feel they truly belong (United Nations; World Down Syndrome Day).

At Nzeve, we recognize that inclusion begins with early identification, early intervention, family support, and creating safe, welcoming communities where every child can grow, participate and thrive.

Together, we can help create spaces where every person with Down syndrome feels connected, respected and included.
