Happy International Self-Care Day

At Nzeve, we champion inclusion and support for children and adults with disabilities but it’s easy to forget to care for ourselves too. Today is a reminder to prioritise your wellbeing and make self-care part of your everyday life. 💙

🔹 Community in Action | Rusape 🔹

During a recent home visit in Rusape, our team installed a parallel bar to support Anabel’s rehabilitation journey helping her work towards important developmental milestones.

This progress is the result of the Parenting Pathways Project, supported by Brot für die Welt, which established Community Support Groups to strengthen support for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities.

Thanks to this initiative, one committed group member mobilized resources leading to generous donations from ZBC National FM and the Church of Christ, including a standing frame and the parallel bar.

Now, Anabel can practice her therapy sessions at home a powerful reminder of what happens when communities are informed, empowered and take action together.

This is what inclusive community leadership looks like.

| Empowering Deaf Girls Through Skills 💅🏽✨

In June, with support from WAVE (Women Against Violence Through Empowerment), Nzeve equipped Deaf girls with nail therapy skills a powerful step toward financial independence and reducing vulnerability to gender-based violence.

Through this initiative, these young women gained more than just a trade they found confidence, purpose and the tools to shape their own futures.

Gratitude to Our Bouworde vzw Volunteers 🇧🇪💙🇿🇼
From July 8 to 15, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of young volunteers from Bouworde vzw Belgium here at Nzeve Deaf Centre.

During their time with us, they joined various activities across our programmes spending time with staff and parents of Deaf children, engaging with ECD learners in the classroom and working alongside Deaf youth in the Sanganai Vocational Skills programme through farming, carpentry, and sewing.

More than just lending a hand, they took time to connect with our community and gain a deeper understanding of the work we do. Their energy, kindness, and eagerness to learn were truly appreciated.

Day 1 | Strategic Planning Workshop 🧩

Today marked the beginning of our 2-day Strategic Planning Workshop as we journey toward transformation.

Participants including board members, staff, stakeholders, partners, community leaders, and persons with disabilities—reflected on our 25-year journey, refined our vision and mission, and analyzed the environment shaping our work.

With diverse voices in the room, Day 1 laid a strong foundation for a bold, inclusive 2026–2030 strategy.

Caregivers of children with disabilities from across Manicaland came together in a moment of unity and growth through our Parenting Pathways program.

With support from Brot für die Welt, they reflected on tasks from earlier sessions, shared experiences and continued building the skills needed to support their children’s development.

Each gathering strengthens both parenting knowledge and peer support — a reminder that empowered families help children thrive. 💙

Congratulations, Tadiwa! 💍

At Nzeve, we are proud to celebrate Tadiwa — our exceptional ECD teacher, Deaf mentor, designer, beautician and sign language tutor — as she embarks on a new chapter in her life through marriage.

Tadiwa recently held her kitchen tea at Nzeve, a place close to her heart. Her journey with us began at six months, after confirmation of her deafness. She joined our Early Childhood Development program and later trained at our vocational school, qualifying as a designer. Over the years, she has become an integral part of our team and a role model in the Deaf community.

As we bid her farewell, we do so with immense gratitude for her contributions and with heartfelt wishes for a joyful and fulfilling future with her partner.

Her story is a reminder that with the right support, Deaf children can thrive and lead fulfilled independent lives.

Once a part of Nzeve, always a part of Nzeve. 💙

As part of our ongoing school visits, we continue to engage resource units for Deaf learners across Manicaland with inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) sessions.

Recently, our teams reached learners at Chisuko Primary, St Andrew and Manzinde Primary, Chiroakamwe Primary , Hande Primary and Mutambara Mission Primary in Manicaland province.

With support from AmplifyChange and in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, these sessions focused on child sexual abuse and helping learners understand good and bad touch—equipping Deaf children with essential knowledge in safe, respectful environments.

Because every child, regardless of ability, deserves access to information that protects and empowers them.
