Results are out of a recent study on fermented dairy.
NED Alert: Yogurt, cultured fermented milk, and health: a systematic review in Nutrition Reviews. 2021
A 2021 qualitative, systematic review including 108 studies aimed to assess how consumption of fermented milk products influences health.
The scope of the review was broad and concluded that eating fermented dairy products aided lactose digestion, showed a consistent link with reduced risk of breast cancer, colorectal cancer and type 2 diabetes and improved weight maintenance, cardiovascular, bone and gastrointestinal health. In the absence of clear findings in relation to prostate cancer, a cautious approach to fermented dairy may be warranted.

I'm just discovering a new love for the traditional African way of cooking greens. Well, maybe with my own twist, but this recipe is delicious especially when freshly picked Tsunga (mustard greens) from the veggie garden.
Ingredients: a large bunch of greens, 1 onion, garlic & chilli to taste, TSP paprika, TSP cumin, 2 chopped fresh tomatoes.
Method: Gently fry the onion in butter and olive oil until glassy, add garlic, chilli and spices, cook another minute, add tomatoes, then greens and stir fry. A few minutes later - ready to eat 😋 .
I have found Tsunga to be one of the easiest and most rewarding greens to grow in the Victoria Falls climate. 🌱🌱🌱

If you love Mexican food but want to cut back on carbs try this deliciously simple hack of using a lettuce leaf instead of a tortilla. Include your filling of choice, not too wet - guacamole, a bit cheddar, sour cream - yum! We included plenty of veggies in our mince (onion, garlic, corguette, carrot, pepper, chili, herbs), and for the wrap I used a couple of leaves for extra strength and to make sure I could wrap well and avoid drips. Crunchy and delicious.

Sourdough Bread:
This is my labor of love - introducing my first ever home-made sour dough bread. We don't eat a lot of bread in our household and modern day supermarket bread is no longer comfortable for hubby and I to eat, we find sour dough a bit easier to digest. So if we do have bread, it may as well be a delicious sour dough. We have some great sour dough bakers in our town, but I had to try this myself for the challenge.
I went to the trouble of making my own sour dough starter and then eventually got to making this first loaf. I am very pleased how it turned out. Soft and a little chewy on the inside, a little crunchy, but not tooth-breaker hard, on the crust. Pretty perfect if I say so myself!
Normally these kinds of experiments have a few flops before it comes right. I also wanted to try a small loaf first, so I used 's recipe. Really good instructions on there if you want to give it a go. What do you think of my loaf?
