Happy Pup Post! 🐶 🎉🐶

Peggy-Sue, a 16 year old border collie, was in an incident 2 weeks prior involving a car trailer. She presented to the clinic, last week, being carried in by her owner unable to walk, particularly on her left hind leg. Upon examination Peggy-Sue was showing signs of nerve damage. Dr Paije discussed this with the owner, as well as obtaining some pain relief for her. Peggy-Sue was treated with very gentle mobilisations to her spine, massage and laser. Today, Peggy-Sue walked into the clinic! 🐾 She was still limping but able to weight bear on her left leg. Her sensation in the left foot had also improved. We hope to be able to continue to improve her condition in the coming weeks.

Jo, a young kelpie, retired from farm life and has moved to the big smoke. Since becoming more sedentary her new owners have noticed she has developed an intermittent limp on walks. She walks, and then walks on 3 legs and back to 4 throughout her walk. Jo’s patella is Luxating. This is very common in smaller dogs, less so in kelpies. It is where the patella (knee cap) flicks in and out of the patella groove. Jo has some exercises to do to strengthen her back legs. After one treatment and some specific exercises, her owners have noticed a difference. But Jo is a work in progress. She will have to strengthen her muscles more to avoid surgery.

Timmy, a nearly 2 year old English Setter, had previously been in for a shoulder injury brought on my rough play which resolved with treatment. Yesterday he came in for a check up as he had taken a turn with an infection of an unknown cause. Since then, he has had sensitivity to pats along his spine. We are hoping the treatment yesterday makes him more comfortable. ❤️
