Wik Awards food prep was hectic to say the lease. We had to transport all our prep food in large containers held in the cool room at the community centre to the school kitchen. I then started on the curry chicken wings stew, Jules started the sop sop, baked sweet potatoes, salsa, garden salad 🥗, then Marky and I worked on roasting 120kgs of chicken breasts, cooked 15kg of lemon myrtle garlic butter rice, 30ltrs of coleslaw and as you can see, the space is very limiting, but my amazing team and I managed it like pros!
Woomy and the Rangers did the kup murri, which I didn't get to try 🥲 Koolkan State School you all did an amazing job 👏 well done team x

Sandpaper Fig gets its name from its rough, sandpaper-like leaves. But it doesn’t sound appetising, this ancient fig tree produces a very sweet fruit that’s said to be the best tasting Australian fig. My people traditionally used the leaves to smooth and polish weaponry, the bark to make string, and the fruit for delicious bush tucker. Will harvest in a few weeks, will try and beat the birds.

I am living proof of making dreams come true! I have lived the richest to the poorest lifestyles, I have had it all and I have had nothing, I have done it all and I have done nothing meaning I have lived it, breathed it and believed it can all come true!! I’m talking about the power of ‘Manifestation’ The power of the mind, The Power of visualisation is all I believe in. I have worked hard and I have worked less, I have been a slave to the system and now I have my freedom!! Life is a journey and the journey is the destination! These are two cruise ships I have had the honour of working on over the past 11 years. The one on the right is a six star German super luxurious ship which I have worked on as as a guest lecturer for anything up to 6 weeks, I know hard life right?! I was treated with the utmost respect and privilege. Trust me when I say, if I can achieve this, so can you....... to achieve the achievable, you must first step out of your own way and your own comfort zone, leap and the net will appear! So what are you waiting for?.....it’s time to step up, out and spread your wings to soar! Let’s fly high!

Here's the good news y'all!!

I'm excited, emotional and feeling very overwhelmed with joy I can barely breath sometimes, but I am super happy I've completed it, accomplished a massive job under all the pressures, challenges and projects I had going on!

I have the best Publish house in the world....thank you Hardie Grant Explore and the amazing team for believing in me and my book!

*DEADLY JALBU'S (Sisters) KITCHEN RULES *

Kuranda and Mareeba Jalbu's Kitchen Rules. What an amazing day spent with these beautiful ladies!
Again, teaching healthy cooking, healthy eating and being aware that Mayi (food) is Medicine!

But I have to say, these Jalbu's (sisters) embraced the challenge of creating yummy chicken tacos and all went in gun ho, unthinkingly enthusiastic and eager, especially when it became a competition 😁, as I always say 'a healthy competition is a good competition'!
We all had so much fun, giggles, dorising and creating beautiful art pieces of mayi! But the rainforest got hurt with all our decorations!

Again I'm glad I wasn't a judge, but we had some beautiful wise elders take on that very important role!

Thank you Rachel Oui and Shannon for booking the Bush Tukka Woman to come and engage on Djabaguy bubu with these incredible women in the Kuranda and Mareeba communities!

Can't wait for the next event Jalbus!
