ABOUT OUR FOOD, HEALTH & SUSTAINABILITY PANEL:
- Rebecca Scott (OAM): Bec is the Co-founder and CEO of STREAT, a Melbourne-based food social enterprise that provides training and employment pathways to young people & provides them with a healthy self, work & home. STREAT has worked with over 1,500 young people who have helped serve over 2 million customers. Prior to starting STREAT, Bec spent a decade at the CSIRO working in science communication.
- Prof Anthony Capon: Director of the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, chair holder in Planetary Health at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, public health physician and researcher. Tony also currently co-chairs the Future Earth Health Knowledge—Action Network & is a member of the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Climate Change, the Environment and Health (CCE TAG) for the Western Pacific Region.
- Lucy Westerman: Lucy works at VicHealth, exploring how businesses, particularly in alcohol, to***co, ultra processed food and gambling, influence health. Prior to VicHealth, Lucy worked in advocacy for a global NGO, the NCD Alliance, with a focus on the social, political, commercial and environmental determinants of health. Lucy holds a Master of Public Health, and degrees in Health Promotion, Sociology, and Nutrition.
- A/Prof Gyorgy Scrinis: Associate Professor of Food Politics and Policy in the School of Agriculture and Food, Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Melbourne. His current research focuses on the power of food corporations, the politics and policy of ultra-processed foods, the philosophy of nutrition science and food technology, university student food insecurity. He is the author of Nutritionism: The Science and Politics of Dietary Advice.
