Dr Thomas (Tom) Wright is a caring and approachable GP who is now available for appointments from tomorrow.

Originally from Sydney, Tom has worked in Darwin and Timor-Leste before moving to Cairns to complete his GP training. His broad experience allows him to support patients across every stage of life.

Tom enjoys all aspects of general practice and has particular expertise in:
👩‍⚕️ Women’s health — including contraception, menopause care, peri/menopause support, and pregnancy care
👶 Children’s health & Paediatrics — trained through the Sydney Children’s Health Program

Measles is highly contagious, and virus particles can stay in the air for several hours after an infected person has been there.

If you have any of the following: red eyes, fever, cough, red spots in the roof of your mouth and a few days later develop a rash, please phone your doctors office and make a phone or video consultation. We can assist without you needing to leave home, and order testing.

Measles is an acute, highly infectious illness caused by the measles virus. Measles can cause serious complications such as pneumonia (lung infection) and encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). It may also cause middle ear infection.

Welcome Back Dr Rachel Inbanathan!!!

We are excited to have a familiar face returning to Stratford Medical Centre. If you are looking for a friendly, efficient, energetic doctor, look no further.

Dr Rachel is seeing NEW & Existing patients, and will be staying in Cairns long term.

Dr. Rachel Inbanathan was born and raised in Penang, Malaysia, completed her studies in 2012 when she graduated from Uni of NSW. She received her GP Specialist registration in 2021.

Rachel has worked in Canberra, Sydney, regional NSW, regional Victoria, London and Sydney, and moved to Cairns in 2019. Rachel enjoys all aspects of general practice, runs on time, and likes getting things done.

Rachel is focused on patient centered care, always encouraging her patients to take ownership of their health to try and live their best life.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, museums, taekwondo, reading, playing with dogs, dabbling in the arts. Rachel also speaks Malay and Tamil.

If you are under 15 years old, or hold a Health Care Card, there will no longer be a financial barrier to accessing healthcare at Stratford Medical Centre.

We always bulk bill DVA veterans too.

We can do phone and secure video link so you don't even have to leave home. If it isn't eligible for Medicare rebate, we can still do a consult with a flat fee.
We keep free places every day for urgent matters.
