A good day out of the office for the Caterpillar Clinic team, learning about Collaborative & Proactive Solutions from THE Dr Ross Greene (yes, author of The Explosive Child and Lost at School, amongst others). A great approach focused on problem solving and generating solutions to difficult situations by working with (not on) the child and developing their skills to prevent problem behaviours. Back to the office to keep the good work going tomorrow!

We are super excited to introduce our TWO new provisional psychologists who have joined the Caterpillar team. Pyper comes on board with great experience from the NDIS sector as a previous Behaviour Support Practitioner, alongside clinical experience in a range of areas. Sara joins us in her fifth and final year of training to be a registered psychologist, having completed her clinical placements under her Masters training. Both Sara and Pyper are fantastic additions to the Clinic and allow families to access as many sessions as needed with a lower session rate than our fully registered psychologists, with clinicians who have existing clinical experience and full supervision. The Caterpillar team had our annual planning day to review the year just gone and set up for the year ahead. We're super excited about all we've achieved and all that we have planned in 2025! Although we are sad to see Dawn leave the team from her bright and bubbly role in admin, we're also very happy for her to start a well deserved retirement. 🍾

We'd like to congratulate Clinic Director Dr Rachel Pearce on her successful completion of her PhD! It's been a juggle for Rachel managing her research and clinical commitments for the last few years, but it seems to have been worthwhile with a published paper, a paper currently under review pending publication, and nominations from both thesis examiners for an Outstanding Thesis Award. Rachel hopes her research will benefit practitioners supporting anxious autistic children and developing children's coping abilities, and she's very excited about working with more young people and their families on her fulltime return to the Clinic. 🎓

So that's a wrap for Caterpillar Clinic for 2024! Our office is closed from Tuesday 24 December 2024 until Monday 06 January 2025. We hope all Caterpillar kids and their families have a very safe and happy time over Christmas and New Years, and we look forward to seeing you again in January to help get the year started in the best way possible! 🎄🎆

I've just wrapped up two inspiring days with the wonderful team at Caterpillar Clinic in Cairns, Queensland!

Want to know what gives me hope for our kids' future? Seeing children's therapists who truly get it - who understand that supporting kids from two-home families means seeing the whole picture.

The Caterpillar team's commitment shone through as we explored:
