🌟 Accessibility Spotting – Week 5 🌟 High-Contrast Signage
Signs with strong colour contrast, large text, and clear symbols help everyone find their way more easily, but they’re especially important for people with low vision, intellectual disability, or difficulty processing information.

πŸ”Ή What to look for:
High contrast ➜ dark on light (or vice versa)
Large text ➜ easy to read from a distance
Simple wording ➜ quick to understand
Consistent design ➜ easy to recognise

Accessible signage = inclusive spaces πŸ’›

🌟 Accessibility Spotting – Week 4 🌟Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs). The bumpy tiles near crossings, ramps, and hazards help guide people with low vision. They provide important information about where to walk and when to stop or change direction.

🌟 Accessibility Spotting – Week 1 🌟 πŸ”˜ The Dot on the Keypad.
Have you ever noticed the small raised dot on the number 5 of a keypad?

That tiny feature helps people who are blind or have low vision find the centre of ATMs and EFTPOS machines independently. Once they locate the 5, they can easily orient themselves to the rest of the numbers.

Next time you use a numerical keypad, take a look. 🧑 Inclusion starts with awareness.

🌟 Accessibility Spotting 🌟 Over the coming weeks, Ochre Care will be sharing a series of short posts highlighting everyday accessibility features in our community. Many of these supports are things you might walk past without noticing, but for someone living with disability, they can make all the difference in being able to access spaces independently and confidently. Accessibility helps people live independently and inclusion benefits everyone. 🧑
