Customer walks in, coughs like a haunted accordion:
💀 HACK-HACK-HACK-WHEEEEZE-WHOOP

Me, behind the counter: “Soooo… you just browsing today or… summoning demons?”

They say, “It’s just a little cough.”
Meanwhile, children in aisle 3 are scattering like pigeons.

Friendly reminder:
😷 If your cough sounds like a fax machine dialing up AOL in 1998, it might be time to see a doctor.
💉 Also, whooping cough is real, it’s wild, and it doesn’t care that you’re “too busy” for a vaccine.
🏠 It is very contagious, so it's best to pretend it's 2019 again and stay home!
🤧Other symptoms can include a runny nose, mild fever, vomiting and exhaustion (and it's not just the excitement for Taylor and Travis being engaged)

🏠What illness was the roof suffering from?
Shingles!

If you've ever had chickenpox, the virus is still in your body and can reawaken later in life as shingles. Signs to look out for:

😖Pain, tingling, itching or numbness initially on one side of the body (there doesn't always have to be pain for it to be shingles!)
🔴Rash of fluid filled, red blisters - usually burst and crust over within 2-4 weeks
🥶Other symptoms can include fever, headache, chills, and general malaise
⚡Nerve pain that can last weeks (or months!)

💉 Good news: there’s a vaccine that can help prevent shingles or make it less severe. It’s recommended for adults 50+ or younger if you’re at higher risk.

This week we are highlighting RSV!

What is RSV?
Respiratory syncytial virus also known as RSV is a contagious respiratory virus that can cause cold-like symptoms but may lead to severe illness such as pneumonia, especially in:
👶Babies under 6 months
👴Adults over 60
🤰🏽Pregnant women (risk to newborns)
😷People with chronic heart or lung conditions or weakened immune systems

Why is RSV a concern in Australia?
In winter, it’s one of the leading causes of hospital admissions for infants and can severely affect older adults

The Good News – There’s Now a Vaccine!
RSV vaccines are available for:
👵🏽Older adults (usually 60+ depending on health risk)
🤰Pregnant women (to protect newborns during first months of life)

How to Protect Yourself & Your Family
💉Talk to your pharmacist or GP about RSV, flu, and COVID vaccinations
🧼Practise good hand hygiene and stay home if unwell
😷Avoid close contact with high-risk individuals if you have cold/flu symptoms
