People ask me often, how I began working as a clinical therapist and the truth is that it was always a dream for me to be able to work with people, more so the most vulnerable of our society. I began my career in social work in the disabilities sector and quickly learnt that I loved working with people and loved being a part of something greater than myself.
I moved into program management and developed small programs from the ground up including programs for young people, the elderly, and carers. I felt the thrill of nurturing a program, marketing it, and watching it grow.
Then I spent close half a decade working therapeutically with children and families who had gone through difficult separations and cut my teeth on cases that were stuck or difficult to see results in.
From there I worked at NSW Health at the Children’s Hospital again working with some of our society’s most vulnerable - this time adolescents and families with Eating Disorders. At this point I felt I was ready to do more on my own and begun building a small practice on Saturdays and after business hours, but my waiting list for private clients was growing. I needed to decide if I was going to take a leap and quit work at NSW Health and NGOs, and try to create my own clinic. ‘Ray’s Room’ has been the vehicle by which all of my past experiences have come together. I have been able to apply my time working with various sections of the population, with my love for fostering a small business. While my client scope has grown, so too has the team. We now have a small but growing team of therapists and admin workers, dedicated to supporting children, young people, individuals, couples and families all across Sydney. We are proud to throw everything we have at our cases and ensure that while we are not outcome-driven, we are successful at attaining client goals. I would love to share my dream with you and am always open to understanding yours. Feel free to drop a line and find out more about myself or any of my other colleagues at Ray’s Room - we are dedicated to supporting all of our clients. Tah, Ray
