You need to put your feet up when you get home from your vasectomy!! Recently I had a chap touch base with me a week after his vasectomy, still in lots of pain and swelling. I brought him straight in for a review, examination and ultrasound. I could find nothing wrong - no infection, no bleed, nothing to explain why things hadn't settled down. He then sheepishly admitted he had gone straight back to his standing, walking all day quite physical warehouse job. I instructed him to take the rest of the week off, provided some more pain relief and got him to go home to the couch. At a follow up 48hours later he was feeling 100% better! This is a small procedure, but still an operation in a tender area. At least 48hours of rest allows the surgery a chance to calm down, swelling to start to settle and will actually speed up your recovery. Going straight into too much work will prevent things from settling down and actually prolong your recovery. So - get on the couch and get those feet up after the vasectomy.
