Today we remember and honour the service and sacrifice of all who have served our country, past and present.

We pay our respects to the ANZACs and to the families and communities whose lives have been shaped by service.

Last week, we farewelled Michael Barrett Lennard as he retired after 25 incredible years with Rocky Bay.

Michael’s connection to our organisation began long before his career. A proud country boy at heart, he travelled from Beverley as a child to access our services, a lived experience that shaped his deep commitment to people with disability and guided his work ever since.

A trusted colleague, passionate advocate and all round legend, Michael always found ways to bring people together, from footy tipping to Christmas celebrations, if there was a social event, you could guarantee Michael was part of it!

Congratulations on an incredible career, Michael 💜

April is World Autism Month, and we were honoured to speak with Professor Andrew Whitehouse, a world leading autism researcher at The Kids Research Institute Australia.

In this Q&A, Andrew covers:
• Common myths about autism
• The media’s role in shaping understanding
• Simple changes our community can make to be more autism inclusive
• And why we shouldn’t get bogged down by words and labels

From basketball to lawn bowls, horse riding to cricket. Joe’s played them all! 🏀🏏

These days, one of his biggest passions is powerchair hockey and in January, thanks to our Wishing Tree Program, Joe had the opportunity to represent Western Australia at the National Club Championships in Sydney. 🏑

For Joe, it was an experience filled with excitement, a few nerves and a lot of gratitude. You can read more about his sporting journey, how he discovered powerchair hockey and what it meant to represent WA here: https://www.rockybay.org.au/stories/from-the-arena-to-the-national-stage/

Our supported accommodation customers in Bassendean have been getting into the Easter spirit, putting together care packages filled with food and essentials for those doing it tough.

This week, the baskets were delivered to the Perth Homeless Support Group, supporting people experiencing homelessness in our community and reminding us that even the simplest gestures can make a meaningful difference.

Wishing everyone a safe, joyful and happy Easter! 🐣

This April, we’re sharing autism through the eyes of a parent.

Andrea Humes, mum to Rocky Bay customer Tom, reflects on more than 40 years of love, patience and connection.

“As the parent you’re also their teacher, their best friend, their nurse - you’re their everything. I used to worry like every other parent....but if you have faith in your child, the reality is what is right in front of you. I don’t worry about the world outside. What you know about your child is right, and you stick to it."
