What a brilliant night at the UDIA WA Awards for Excellence last week! 💫 Congratulations to all the winners and finalists for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in our industry.

TBB Planning was proud to once again sponsor the Masterplanned Community Award — a category close to our hearts. Big shout-out to Ellenbrook by Satterley Property Group and DevelopmentWA for taking home the win. Ellenbrook isn’t just a place on the map — it’s now home to nearly 25,000 residents, many young families, with high amenity, open spaces, and infrastructure that connects people and community.

We were also excited to see OneOneFive Hamilton Hill take home the Affordable Housing Award. TBB is proud to have played a role in shaping and planning this outstanding community, which is setting new benchmarks for affordability and quality living in WA.

And of course, the UDIA Awards are always a great excuse to glam up — our team looked pretty sharp! Thanks to UDIA WA for hosting another fantastic evening. 👏

TBB Planning is proud to support approval of Christ Church Grammar School’s $40m arts hub

We’re pleased to have played a key role in securing approval for CCGS Perform — a state-of-the-art performing arts centre that will deliver a 465-seat auditorium, classrooms, and creative spaces for decades to come.

This significant project, unanimously approved by the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel, will enhance the school’s arts curriculum and create a valuable asset for both students and the wider community.

Well done to our Lex Barnett and Melanie Cox for their expertise and commitment in guiding this application through to approval.

Spotlight on our Interns

Fresh ideas, grit, and curiosity — that’s what our interns bring to TBB.

Through our Early Careers Program, interns and graduates work alongside experienced planners, urban designers, and other specialists — gaining real project experience, learning from mentors, and contributing from day one.

Two of our current interns are Rebekah Thompson (Planning Intern) and Tatiana Pymont (Marketing Intern).
💡 Rebekah Thompson (Planning) – “ambitious, encouraging, and enthusiastic” is how she describes the TBB team. She was drawn to planning for its positive, tangible impact on communities.
💡 Tatiana Pymont (Marketing) – Feeling welcomed from day one, she’s been building her skills in data management and content creation to support our new website build.

We’re excited to see the fresh perspectives and energy they’ve brought — and we can’t wait to see where their careers take them.
If you’re a student or recent graduate looking to make a real impact, submit your application to be considered for future intern or graduate opportunities. https://tbbplanning.com.au/jobs/early-careers-interns-and-graduates/

Last Friday, some TBB-ers attended the Emerging Planners Summit 2025, hosted by Planning Institute of Australia WA.

Representing TBB were Eoghan McElwee, Luka Martins, Tim Gates, and Jillian Bardos—along with our Managing Director, Samantha Thompson—who all took part in an energising day of learning, sharing, and connecting with fellow emerging planners and professionals across the industry.

A special shout-out to our talented consultant Jillian Bardos, who presented her recent work, Parliamentary Research Project: The Housing and Rental Crisis in Kalgoorlie. Her insights into the challenges and opportunities facing regional housing sparked important conversations throughout the day.

The event was packed with thought-provoking presentations, interactive workshops, and a walking study tour of the Peninsula—an inspiring mix of learning in and outside the room.

Thank you to PIA WA for putting on such a brilliant event.
