🦺 October marks the arrival of National Safe Work Month, a dedicated period when Australians everywhere are encouraged to turn up the volume on workplace safety. 🦺
This week we are looking at Psychosocial and Mental Health and how we can improve the management of this in the workplace and promote work practices that support mental health and wellbeing. Recognised every October, this month stands as a reminder and a call to action for all of us—employers, employees, and the broader community—to reaffirm our commitment to fostering healthy and safe work environments.
Western Australia’s 2025 theme, “The Way Forward,” invites all to shape the future of workplace safety by reflecting on current practices and embracing new ideas for safer workplaces.
Prioritising safety is both a legal duty and essential for wellbeing, leading to fewer injuries, higher morale, and better productivity while reducing incident-related costs.
This year emphasises risk management and worker wellbeing. Addressing hazards early and supporting physical and mental health fosters a positive safety culture.
📢 Identify and control risks before they cause harm.
📢 Support both physical and mental health at work.
📢 Gather feedback to continually improve safety.
The way forward for HSRs, Pathways for handling psychosocial hazards and Hindsight – Every action has a consequence.
