Microneedling uses a device to create tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. That controlled injury triggers the skin's own repair response, which can help to produce firmer looking skin. It's your skin doing the work. The device just prompts it.

The device we use is the SkinPen. I chose it specifically: it's the first FDA-cleared microneedling device in the world. That's not a marketing line. It means it's gone through the kind of clinical validation that a lot of devices in this space haven't.

It's adjustable in needle depth, which matters because skin isn't uniform and treatment shouldn't be either. And it's built for precision, which is what I want when I'm working on someone's face.

Over a course of several treatments, people commonly notice:

I still find it a bit surreal when I'm asked to speak in front of my peers. After 30 years in this industry, you'd think I'd be used to it.

I was presenting on TR Pro+, a post-procedure aftercare gel I use in the clinic.

It's built around a beta-glucan molecule called Glucoprime, which is backed by clinical research supporting skin repair after aesthetic procedures. It's the kind of product I love talking about, because the science actually stacks up.

Threads are one of the most fascinating treatments we offer, and here’s a straightforward explanation of what they actually do:

A fine mesh structure is placed beneath the skin to provide support to the tissue. Over time, the threads gradually dissolve, and as they do, your body's own repair process is stimulated to help maintain firmer, more supported skin long after the threads themselves are gone.

Some visible effects may appear shortly after treatment, with gradual improvement continuing over several months as collagen production progresses.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 — 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻

I get asked about bruising a lot. And honestly, I love the question because once you understand what’s actually happening at a tissue level, it makes a lot more sense and feels a lot less alarming.

Here’s what’s going on.

Your face is a highly vascular environment. That means there are blood vessels - capillaries, venules, arterioles - running through every layer of tissue. They’re small, they’re fragile in places, and they sit within a complex web of connective tissue, fat, and muscle.

When any of those vessels are disturbed, even minimally, they can leak. The blood that escapes doesn’t stay put - it tracks through the surrounding tissue and eventually becomes visible at the skin’s surface as discolouration. That’s a bruise.

The colour progression you see is actually your body doing exactly what it’s supposed to:

• Red or purple at first, that’s fresh blood, still high in oxygen, sitting close to the surface.
•Blue or dark purple within a day or two - the haemoglobin in that blood starts to break down.
• Green, then yellow, then gone: your lymphatic system and macrophages are clearing the haemosiderin (the iron-containing byproduct) out of the tissue.

The whole process can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size of the vessel involved, the depth of the tissue, your individual circulation, medications you’re taking (especially blood thinners or anti-inflammatories), and even genetics.

It’s worth knowing this isn’t a sign anything went wrong. It’s a normal physiological response, your body doing what bodies do.

My mum is my best friend, my supporter, my PA at work, the best grandmother, and anything else she needs to be - for me, my children, my husband, and anyone else around us.
