Poetry, Paint, & Sip (and a historical tour of the Katherine Susannah Pritchard Writers Centre) up in Greenmount. Perfect way to spend an autumn Saturday afternoon.

Find everything you love about yourself for an "I Am" collage. I used this activity with my students at the start of the school year to establish a calm and safe atmosphere in our room and to discover a new way of creating art. People with neurodivergent brains often love flicking through magazines, choosing images that inspire, and slowly cutting out and pasting in pleasing patterns, which the activity requires. Then, considering what there is to love about ourselves is a bonus.

I get fidgety and anxious during work meetings and workshops. Doodling helps me relax and focus on what’s being said. Plus, I enjoy it.

We are making miniature animals and make-believe creatures today. Creative flow music (I use the Lo Fi Chill playlist on Apple Music) and the sensory earplugs in to filter neural noise (I use Calmer brand for conversations and Loop brand for higher blocking of sound)

Blackout poetry is a form of visual and written expression using ‘found’ words in already existing texts. A new text reveals itself like a puzzle when doing the steps I will outline in my workshop. Then the visual interpretation begins. It’s simple, fun, creative and perfect for all ages.

Experimenting with the feel and smell of air dry clay. These types of clays are easy to use and dry without an oven but for people with sensory issues, the texture and odour can be off-putting. Purchasing a variety of easy-to-use clays means there should be something for everyone to have a go.
