Our Meet A Friend Socially (MAFS) group is heading out for dinner at Good Company on Wednesday 21 May 🍔

MAFS is a small, relaxed catch‑up for VisAbility and Kites young adults aged 17–19 who are transitioning from school into work, TAFE or uni. It’s about building real connections, sharing a few laughs, and gaining confidence in everyday things like ordering a meal, managing money, and getting around.

The group is supported by our Speech Therapists and designed to feel easygoing and welcoming - just good food, good company, and the chance to make lasting friendships.

It’s a relaxed social night designed for school leavers and young people from Kites and VisAbility who are at a similar stage in life and keen to make new connections.

Important information for NDIS families.

We’ve been hearing from more and more families who are receiving unexpected “cold calls” from NDIS planners or delegates to complete plan reviews.

If this has happened to you, please know you do NOT have to proceed if you feel unprepared, rushed, or uncomfortable.

You have the right to:
• decline the call
• ask to reschedule for another day or time
• request a face‑to‑face meeting
• have a support person with you (including a Social Worker)

At Kites, our Social Workers support families before, during, and after NDIS reviews, helping you understand what’s being asked, clarify your priorities, and advocate for what is reasonable and necessary. They can also attend meetings or calls with you, if that’s helpful.

We’re sharing this flyer as a reminder that NDIS reviews do not need to happen via cold call, and support from a Social Worker is reasonable and appropriate.

This World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate autistic children for who they are. 💛

At Kites, we believe therapy should support understanding, confidence, and well being - not change a child’s identity. Autism is a different way of experiencing the world, and every autistic child deserves support that respects their strengths, needs, and voice.

Programs like our Social Builders Group, delivered in partnership with VisAbility, reflect this approach. Through structured, interest‑based LEGO® play, children are supported to practise social connection in ways that feel safe and meaningful, without pressure to mask or conform.

In therapy, we use child-led and play-based approaches, partnering with families and schools. We respect communication differences, build skills without masking or forcing “normal” behaviour, and support emotional regulation, not compliance.

Not just today, but every day, we celebrate autism by creating spaces where children are accepted and free to be themselves.

Over four structured sessions, children work together on guided LEGO® activities designed to support social learning in a practical and engaging way.

With guidance from our therapy team, participants practise skills such as listening to others, taking turns, sharing ideas, and working toward a shared outcome. Sessions are supportive and paced to help every child feel comfortable participating.

Dates: Tuesday 7, Wednesday 8, Tuesday 14, and Wednesday 15 April 2026
Time: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

Social Builders Group Therapy is back for the April school holidays! 🤩

Designed for children aged 6-10 years old, our Social Builders Group brings kids together over four engaging sessions to build, problem-solve, and connect through guided LEGO® projects.

Led by our experienced therapy team, children are supported to practice key social skills like turn-taking, sharing ideas, and working towards a common goal - all within a safe and encouraging group setting.

This group supports children to:
⭐ Develop friendships and teamwork
⭐ Strengthen communication and problem-solving
⭐ Build confidence while working alongside peers

Our popular LEGO® Group sessions are now called Social Builders Group Therapy – and they’re back for the new year!

Across four exciting sessions, kids aged 6–10 years will come together to create incredible LEGO® builds while learning essential social and communication skills. It’s all about collaboration, confidence, and creativity in a fun and supportive environment.

Facilitated by our experienced therapists, children will:
