Before my psychologist friends come for me —
YES, talk therapy has its place.
YES, it can be life-changing.

But hear me out.

After 10+ years in the mental health sector and sitting on the other side as a therapy client…
I’ve learned this:

👉 You can’t “think” your way out of:

😩 anxiety
😩 overwhelm
😩 people-pleasing
😩 chronic exhaustion
😩 shutdown
😩 emotional chaos

Because these are not mindset problems.
They’re nervous system problems.

🧠 Here’s the deal:
Your cortex (thinking brain) = logic, language, problem-solving
Your autonomic nervous system (ANS) = safety, threat response, survival patterns

And guess what?
Dysregulation lives below the thinking brain.
That’s why no amount of insight or “aha moments” will calm a body stuck in survival mode.

⚡ What actually rewires the nervous system?
✅ Body-based tools (breath, movement, somatic work)
✅ Nature-based practices (grounding, orienting, slowing down)
✅ Co-regulation (safe, steady connection with others)

This is why — after all the training, all the years working in the mental health sector, and all my own healing — I believe the simplest tools are often the most powerful.

For most of my life, I felt like I didn’t belong.

Not in my family.
Not in my friend groups.
Not even in the spaces I chose — breathwork trainings, healing circles, retreats.

I told myself:
“You’re just different.”
“You’re too sensitive.”
“You’re hard to love.”

But here’s what I didn’t know back then:
It wasn’t a personality flaw.
It was a nervous system pattern.

My body had learned, long ago, that connection wasn’t safe.

Maybe you know this feeling too:
😞 The anxiety when you walk into a room.
😞 The mental scanning (are they judging me?)
😞 The shrinking, the fawning, the smiling, the disappearing.

That’s not YOU failing at belonging.
That’s your body running an old survival script.

What helped me wasn't “positive thinking” or forcing myself to be social.

It was:
✨ Learning how to co-regulate (letting safe people help me feel safe).
✨ Learning how to self-regulate (holding myself with compassion when I wanted to bolt).
✨ Practicing tiny moments of safe connection again and again — until my body started to believe:
“Maybe… I belong here after all.”

You’re not “too sensitive.”
You’re not weak.

I crashed this week.
Hard.

A full-body nope.
Headache. Sore throat. Muscles aching. Nervous system offline.

Honestly… I saw it coming.

For months I’ve been juggling 🤹

🔴 Flights.
🔴 Visa stress.
🔴 Business logistics.
🔴 Space for others.
🔴 No space for me.

And even though I teach nervous system work…
Even though I know the signs…
My self-care slid off the radar. Quietly. Repeatedly.

Then on Monday, I landed back in a familiar space after Thailand.
And I thought:
“Let’s begin again. Gently.”

I gave myself 20 minutes.
Day 1 of a 30-day somatic reset.

And the next morning? 💥
Flatlined. Sick. Wiped out.

Sometimes the moment we slow down
is when the body finally feels safe enough to let go.

The crash isn’t a failure.
It’s a release.

So this week, I didn’t fight it.
❤️ I let my body lead.
❤️ I dropped the guilt.
❤️ I practiced what I preach — not perfectly, but honestly.

And I’m coming back to myself. Slowly.
Not with hustle.
But with rhythm.

“I had never done a retreat before, and I was feeling like a lot had changed in my life after experiencing a trauma on January 16, 2024.

When I was given the option to pay off the retreat in instalments, I thought, ‘I can do this.’
By the time it came around, I only needed spending money — and in the end, I didn’t spend anything extra.

The retreat was like something I had always dreamed of — and more.
The place was exquisite. Absolute paradise.

Emily had thought of everything and created the safest, most nurturing, nourishing space. I felt truly held.
