Recently, our funeral director, Michelle, joined 6PR to discuss an important topic many families are facing; how we memorialise our loved ones in a changing world.
With some local councils placing a stop on new memorial plaques, it’s important for families to understand what is allowed and what alternative options are available.
During the conversation, Michelle shared guidance on:
• Scattering ashes in public vs private spaces
• Why council rules vary and often change
• The importance of checking permissions first
• Alternative memorial options beyond traditional cemeteries
We also spoke about beautiful, nature-based memorials such as memorial forests, including Living Legacy - Wellington Dam Forest and options available at metropolitan cemeteries like Pinaroo Cemetery, which offer trees, plaques, gardens, and family memorial spaces.
Every family is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Our role is to listen, guide, and help families find a memorial option that feels right for them 🤍
