More than 25% of the world's population are physically inactive (World Health Organization 2018). Physical inactivity can increase risk of obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis, fall, depression & anxiety.
Furthermore, 9.5 hours or more a day of time spent sedentary (sitting) has been shown to increase risk of pre-mature mortality. The good news is that 24 minutes/day of moderate to vigorous intensity exercise maximally reduces the risk of premature mortality (Ekelund et al 2019).
