I hope you find this as interesting as I do!!
When you breastfeed your baby, you're not just providing them with essential nutrients - you're also helping them to build up their immune system.
Breastmilk contains many factors that help support a baby’s immune system, including antibodies, white blood cells, lactoferrin, lysozyme, oligosaccharides, probiotics and prebiotics.
These substances work together to protect your baby from the illnesses that you are both exposed to.
Antibodies protect the internal surfaces of the body, such as the mouth, stomach, intestines and lungs. These antibodies are not digested by the baby. Instead, they coat the baby's gut and block the entry of infections that could otherwise cause illness.
So not only are you providing your baby with the best nutrition possible, you're also helping them stay healthy and strong.
Keep up the great work Mumma 😊
