Hi, I’m Verity! 👋 I’m a Child-Centred Play Therapist and Social Worker offering in-home play therapy across Wadjak and Bindjareb Noongar Boodja (Perth & Mandurah/Southern regions).
✨ Why home-based play therapy?
Children express themselves best through play, and familiar environments help them feel safe and at ease. That’s why I bring a carefully curated mobile playroom right to your home, so your child can process emotions, build confidence, and strengthen their resilience in a space that feels just right for them.

🌱 How I support your family:

✔ Gentle, child-led therapy that meets your child where they are
✔ A warm, compassionate approach informed by over 30 years of experience
✔ Support for all abilities, with a deep understanding of developmental needs
✔ Creative, tailored therapeutic materials to nurture healing and growth
Play therapy is more than just play - it’s a proven way to help children navigate big feelings, develop emotional awareness, and build stronger relationships.
If you’re looking for a personalised approach to support your child’s wellbeing, I’d love to connect. 💛

As social workers, we show up every day to support others through life’s most challenging moments. But who supports you? 🤔

That’s where social work supervision comes in.

Professional supervision is a requirement for continued membership of the AASW. It’s also a space for our reflection, growth, and emotional wellbeing.

It helps prevent burnout, strengthens confidence, and ensures we can continue to provide ethical, client-centred care without depleting ourselves.

💡 In our latest blog, we explore:

✔️ Why professional supervision is essential for social workers
✔️ How it prevents compassion fatigue and burnout
✔️ The role of supervision in private practice success
✔️ What to expect from social work supervision with Evonne Jones

I almost don't want to jinx it ... but, there is loads of availability with paediatric practitioners at the moment. Many with no or short waitlists.

There are also child & adolescent psychiatry options too - within weeks to months.

With the WA regulations changing in December, interstate approved doctors (paediatricians, psychiatrists and neurologists) can now prescribe stimulant medications that CAN be dispensed here in WA.

So if you've been sitting on a loooooong waitlist, then check out all the new listings that have opened up!

I will pop the links in the comments but you can find:

🌸Child and Adolescent Psychiatry including for adolescents over 15 years
🌸Paediatrician for autism diagnosis
🌸Psychology
🌸Occupational Therapy
🌸Speech Pathology
🌸ADHD assessments
🌸Autism assessments
🌸Functional Capacity Assessments
🌸Telehealth providers for autism and ADHD assessments
🌸Assessments for giftedness, specific learning disorders, intellectual disability and FASD
🌸ADHD coaching for parents of ADHDers
🌸ADHD and executive function coaching for kids and teens
🌸Naturopaths
🌸Art therapists and more!

I am constantly adding new providers to the website and have loads of new practitioners join in the past few weeks. So exciting for families needing support!

Check it out! 👇

Teachers have superpowers. When I've been parent helper I've come away amazed at how teachers hold the needs of so many students in mind while they teach an exuberant class.

Let's face it, teachers are streeeeeeetched beyond imagination. They also have up to 32 students in a class whose needs they need to get across quickly. They are absolute pros at doing that.

But the first few weeks of school can be a hairy time for families and kids - especially those who are anxious or neurodivergent.

It takes awhile for relationships and trust to be built with new teachers, for confidence to grow, for a child to turn their energy away from their anxiety to learning.

My kids can tend to go under the radar. They aren't a squeaky wheel.

They do a really great job of masking their anxiety and internalising it. It can be really challenging for other people to identify early signals that they are struggling without a heads up.

I now know I have to be proactive at the beginning of the school year, because if I'm not and they slip to struggling, it's a hard valley of school can't to climb back out of.

This one page handover can be a great way to proactively communicate to your child's new teacher/s how they learn and what they need in the classroom. Especially if you're like me and find it easier to get my thoughts out in writing.

After all, even if kids have the same diagnosis like ADHD, anxiety or autism, their presentation can be very different.

This is a chance for you take all the years of knowledge and experience of what works for *your* child.

I'm sharing the template I created and use for my own kids as I get that it can be overwhelming to start from scratch. What to include? How to describe in one page this uniquely fabulous child and how their brain and body work?

This is an example of a one-page handover for a primary school aged child with fine motor and gross motor coordination challenges associated with Developmental Coordination Disorder (also known as Dyspraxia).

There's a blank template that you can to fill in. There's also a completed example template that you could adjust for your child if some of it applies to you. There's also a bank of other suggested accommodations.

You just need a free Canva account to access and edit to make it your own. I hope it makes the next week and beginning of the school year a bit easier for you and your kiddos.
