13 years ago today Shiree left her role as a Continence Clinical Nurse Consultant at one of the major tertiary hospitals in Western Australia, and also started her journey to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Who knew that 18 years ago she was already beginning to treat patients with genitourinary symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. It was definitely not an area that was covered in depth in the Continence Nurse Specialist course she completed.
But thankfully times are changing and we are talking about it more freely, as well as being proactive in treating symptoms to help restore quality of life to our patients.

Our Yoni Health Clinic team has officially grown!!
Ryley has been seeing clients for the last few months under the supervision of Shiree.
She's an amazing asset to the team and we're thankful she's come on board.

5 years ago today I officially did my last shift in the public health system after 20 years working for the Health Department of Western Australia.
It definitely wasn't an easy decision to make-the job security, a guaranteed income, sick/personal leave, the perks like salary sacrificing and paid study leave. As well as debating whether I would "waste" my Masters degree to become a Nurse Practitioner to "just be an injector".
Little did I know that my love for science and anatomy would allow me to grow my clinic on my own terms and stay true to my principles and philosophies. And also allow me to add the longevity and functional medicine branch of the clinic with Yoni Health Clinic.
For any nurses out there struggling with the upcoming changes to our industry, or feeling burnt out by the hospital system-keep pushing forward, keep learning, keep expanding your knowledge and skills base. We're in a new era of preventative not reactive medicine. It's definitely exciting times ahead for us as clinicians and for patients.

I hit the "quintuple" yesterday. I've now officially lectured or taught at all five universities in Western Australia over my 25 year nursing career.
That's included undergraduate Nurses, Nurse Practitioner (Masters) students and Medical students. It's amazing to see how things evolve in the education space, but the one thing that doesn't change is that if you stop learning you stop growing 🧠

A little reminder of my former role as a Urogynaecology Nurse Practitioner at the Women and Newborn tertiary hospital in Perth. A truly full circle moment coming back to working in the field of urology and continence after a decade.

I was able to attend the first WA Pelvic Pain Network meeting last night in Perth.
It was great to meet colleagues (including fellow Nurse Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Fertility Specialists, Gynaecologists, Urogynaecologists and Hypnotherapists) working in this space and to learn about what is happening Australia wide.

10 years today since I graduated as a Nurse Practitioner. 25 years as a Registered Nurse.
Forever an eternal student learning and soaking in knowledge. I wouldn't have it any other way.
