Visiting Éire for the first time since my family’s ancestors were forced to leave in the late 19th century, has been like crossing a threshold into a portal that has opened up in me a deeper understanding of who I am, why I am the way I am, and the stories that have played out in my life. Returning has brought me to a peaceful place where I feel like I can finally complete the story that has plagued me for a decade- as it my arrival has finished the story.
Over the last weeks I have come to see how much of their trauma and story and gifts and blessings I am carrying and it’s been a time of peace for me to take their sad stories home where they were initially written in a felt experience.
So grateful for our ancestors courage to leave this land and venture to Australia where my family’s story began🙏🏽
