Heavy work…Did you know the important role that heavy work activities play in our ability to learn, focus, attend, and participate in everyday tasks? 🩷It’s true. We all need calming and organizing sensory input in the form of heavy work tasks that provide proprioceptive input through the muscles and joints.

Heavy work is a powerful support for organizing input in self-regulation. The heavy work resources here can be added to your self regulation strategies.

Read about heavy work here:

If you are looking for tools on HOW to support this area, we just loaded a few heavy work and gross motor activity card sets into the membership. Use these to work on body awareness, self regulation, coordination, and motor planning skills too. Members will find a huge selection of heavy work resources as well.

Do You Need to Cancel a Therapy Session? 10 Ideas so you don't lose your money!

🚫 Sometimes, you might have to cancel a therapy session.
πŸ’‘ But, you do not have to lose your money.
πŸ‘₯ You can ask your therapist to do something useful with the time.
Here are ten ideas – what else could we add to this list?
1. ✍️ They can write a report for your next review. This helps with your NDIS review or reassessment.
2. πŸ“‹ Your therapist can make a program with a list of activities for your support workers to talk with you about.
3. πŸ‘©β€πŸ« The time can be used for training for your support workers, family, or teachers.
4. πŸ“„ They can make resources or visual aids or social stories for you, your support workers, family or teachers.
5. πŸ“ž You might be able to have your session on the phone or on telehealth. It might be shorter than usual if you are sick.
6. πŸ“§ They can send you therapy exercises. These are for you to do at home.
7. πŸ“š They can suggest books or articles for you to read between sessions.
8. πŸ“ They can find community resources or events to match what you like doing.
9. 🌱 They can look into other therapies for you to think about.
10. πŸ“š They can learn more about your disability to help them support you better in the future.
βŒ› You can keep this list handy, or give it to your therapist now, so they know what to do with their time if you have to cancel a session late.
