Why Remedial Massage Therapy? Why the name Redtail Remedial? Have a read or check-out or new post...a look into how Redtail Remedial came about :)
My journey in Holistic health began in 2003, studying a Diploma of Aromatherapy and commencing a mentorship at Belmont Alternative Medicine centre. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to observe and learn invaluable skills under the guidance an incredibly talented Osteopath, who quite literally, took me under his wing and taught me not only the specialised skills of Remedial Massage therapy, but also the importance of a healthy balanced lifestyle, with focus on Naturopathic principles, nutrition, movement, stretching, manual therapy, rest and recovery.
In 2004, I moved my family back to the Northwest of Western Australia, a beautiful part of the world with many incredible opportunities, but unfortunately, Holistic health & Remedial therapy had not gained the reputation and traction within the (then) small mining town we lived in, and as such, I moved onto other employment ventures, beginning my new career in Workplace Health & Safety.
Fast forward 17 years, my life had changed again, I had succeeded in a very rewarding career in Workplace Health & Safety, specialising in Manufacturing and Maritime safety, but despite this, I felt the call to step back into the realm of health care. In 2019, I welcomed my second child into the world, and after adapting to a new life and world, I was ready to re-commence my journey into Holistic health!
Fortune and fate combined and soon I was working as a Chiropractic assistant at Byford Healing Arts. I was again, mentored by an incredibly talented health professional. Before long, and with the push of encouragement from my mentor, I undertook studying, this time, to achieve my Diploma of Remedial Massage.
I graduated with my Diploma in 2022 and established my Business, Redtail Remedial Massage. The name Redtail is inspired by the strikingly beautiful Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, known to the Noongar as the Karrak. The powerful call of the Karrak was like a call welcoming me home, bringing me back to my roots, as I was born I the South West of Western Australia and so the name felt right & when I hear the call of the Redtail and see them flying near my home, I know my place and my purpose.
So now, some 20+ years into my journey, I am proud to call myself an established Remedial Therapist. But! This journey is far from over.
