This week, 27 May – 3 June, is National Reconciliation Week and this year's theme is All In.

We pause to reflect on the shared history, culture, and future of all Australians and on the ongoing journey toward reconciliation with First Nations peoples.

At PlanCare, we are committed to supporting older Australians from all backgrounds to live with dignity, choice, and independence, including First Nations Elders and communities whose connection to Country, culture, and family is central to their wellbeing.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. 💛❤️🖤

Just received your Support at Home Notice of Decision (NOD) and your funding looks lower than you expected?

Don't worry - you're probably on interim funding, and it's completely normal.

Interim funding means you can access essential care services right away, without waiting for your full budget to be ready 🩵

We have broken down exactly how it works, what it covers, and what to expect next. Swipe through to learn more, or read our full guide here 👇

A Notice of Decision, or NOD is the official letter you receive after your aged care assessment has been completed. It is your formal confirmation of what support you have been approved for. Sometimes they are also referred to as an Approval Letter.

Your NOD will tell you:
✅Whether you have been approved for Support at Home, what level has been assigned to you and why
✅ What services and short-term supports you have been approved for you
✅ Whether you have received interim funding or not

If you disagree with the decision, you have the right to request a reassessment and your NOD will outline exactly how to do this, including the timeframes and who to contact.

Receiving your NOD is an important milestone in your aged care journey. It means your needs have been heard, assessed, and documented 🩵

If anything in your Notice of Decision feels unclear, My Aged Care can help walk you through what it means for you.

A Power of Attorney (POA) means choosing someone you trust (often a son or daughter) to step in and help make decisions if you ever need it.

For older people, it’s about staying in control by planning ahead.
For families, it’s about having clarity and confidence during important moments.

It can help with:
✅ Paying bills and managing finances
✅ Speaking with providers and services
✅ Making healthcare decisions if required

Having this conversation early can make things much easier later on for everyone involved🩵

Because good care is not just about support, it’s about trust, respect, and being prepared together.
