Support Group EOI - Perth WA

Are you searching for a nurturing and understanding community where you can freely share your experiences, challenges, and triumphs with others who have walked a similar path? Look no further! We are excited to introduce our after-hours Peer-Facilitated Support Groups, a space dedicated to fostering empathy, empowerment, and personal growth through the power of shared experiences.

At our support group, we believe in the strength of peer connections. Our group is facilitated by individuals who have navigated their own journey of recovery, healing, or personal growth, and they are committed to providing a welcoming atmosphere where you can feel heard, understood, and valued. Whether it be depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder or any other mental health concern, our peer facilitators are here to guide discussions, share insights, and offer a non-judgmental environment for meaningful interactions.

In our group, you'll have the opportunity to engage in open and confidential conversations, explore effective coping strategies, and gain a deeper understanding of your own resilience. We are dedicated to creating a supportive network that fosters a sense of belonging, helping you break free from isolation and embrace the strength of community. Join us in our mission to empower one another, validate and celebrate our unique journeys, and grow together to live well in the community.

If you're interested in becoming part of our empowering Peer-Facilitated Support Group, please reach out to Sandra at hello.warriorsmentalhealth@gmail.com. Announcement: We Have Expanded - More Info To Come

In a move to enhance support groups and the broader community for individuals dealing with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), the brand "BPD Warriors" has announced its integration under the mother brand "Warriors Mental Health." This strategic merger is set to usher in a new era of mental health care, offering services designed to cater to a broader audience of people experiencing mental illness while focusing on BPD's unique challenges.

BPD Warriors, known for its dedication to providing specialized resources for those with Borderline Personality Disorder, has made significant strides in raising awareness and reducing the stigma associated with this condition. By uniting under the banner of Warriors Mental Health, I am poised to bring their expertise to a broader demographic of individuals facing various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety and other personality disorders.

One of the primary benefits of this merger is the pooling of resources and expertise. BPD Warriors can tap into the extensive knowledge base and experience, enabling the development of more robust and comprehensive programs for people with a lived experience of BPD and resources tailored to the specific needs of this more expansive community.

Moreover, under the Warriors Mental Health umbrella, BPD Warriors gains access to a broader network of mental health professionals, researchers, and advocates. This collaborative environment fosters the development of innovative modalities that can significantly benefit individuals with BPD and other mental health conditions. The shared commitment to improving mental health outcomes ensures that BPD Warriors' mission will be strengthened and amplified.

For individuals struggling with BPD and their loved ones, merging BPD Warriors into Warriors Mental Health offers hope for a more integrated and holistic approach to mental health care. By aligning their services and resources, these organizations can offer a more seamless experience for individuals seeking support. The benefits include reduced wait times by not needing a certain amount of people with BPD to have sufficient participant numbers in a support group but widening the inclusion criteria to create a greater community through the shared experience of mental ill health. In addition, by expanding the inclusion of other mental illness diagnoses under the Warriors Mental Health, participants can gain different perspectives and insights from a broader range of people through diagnostic criteria that occur co-morbidly amongst many common mental illnesses.

In conclusion, integrating BPD Warriors into Warriors Mental Health signifies a commitment to expanding services for those with Borderline Personality Disorder. It underscores the importance of collaboration and community in addressing the broader challenges of mental health. BPD is often treated as a mental illness in isolation from more common diagnoses, e.g. depression and anxiety, that fosters stigma and social isolation amongst those with lived experience. By merging into Warriors Mental Health, it is envisioned that this will create greater community and feelings of acceptance within the broader society and the mental health sector and, in turn, better health outcomes for people with a lived experience of BPD.

We don't need to toughen kids up to live in a cruel world. We need to raise children with compassion and empathy so they can CHANGE this cruel world into a world that is governed by compassion and empathy.

Support does not always have to be formal. Support can just be a listening ear over coffee. Sometimes we just need to talk about other things that our struggles but need someone that is sensitive to our anxieties.

So we are mixing things up and it keeping it casual next session, so if you have with lived experience of BPD that are nervous about meeting formally, this may be a good place meet other people going through the same.

Looking forward to meeting you

Sandra

P.S Please note participants will have to pay for their own food and drink

Just wanting to honour the bravery of the Warriors who came for their first session of the group yesterday. There was such warm, invited and empathetic atmosphere in which some people who started nervous began to open up and offer great insights and learnings.

Looking forward to next session on the 16th.

BPD is too complex of a mental illness to be done in 10 sessions. Sign this petition to urge the government to give us the 20 Medicare Subsided Sessions that we need

The rising cost of food, fuel and housing, on top of the pandemic and natural disasters, are placing a strain on many in our community.

When your partner is in pain, emotional or physical, their brain can’t take in logic and details. What is most comforting to suffering is engaged, but non-anxious presence. It often involves soft touch and it sounds like phrases which are simple and soothing. The more simple the better. This is because pain exists in the part of the brain which is the most primitive…it transcends words and information. It doesn’t speak “words,” it speaks “feels.” It’s the same part of the brain shared by distressed babies and horses (among many other animals). How would you soothe a baby in distress? How would you soothe a horse in distress? Nobody tries to talk babies and animals out of hurting because they intuitively know it’s not possible. When left to intuition, most people (regardless of gender) will instinctively show up with soft, simple, soothing phrases. Growing up in a culture where logic is encouraged over emotional attunement, independence over interdependence, stifles this essential part of our humanity and for our relationships to thrive we need to learn how to reclaim it. The next time your partner is in distress, try to show up as a soothing presence, not a fixer. You can give advice later if you need to, but don’t lead with it. To be a comforting presence the goal can never be to “take the pain away”……but paradoxically comforting presence is the very thing which creates the space for the pain to move through at its own pace.

Here’s to the day this generation of children who are being taught emotional skills like this and more is raising the next. 🙏🏽💚 Can you feel the shift? Slowly, but surely, we are beginning to teach and guide children by example. Because no punishment, blame, or shame is required to teach children kindness.
