Prevent trips, slips and falls this spring by following these helpful tips:
Don't ignore pain. Foot pain is not normal, so do not resign yourself to aching and suffering. For a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, contact us if you experience foot pain or restricted mobility.
Listen to your feet. Inspect your feet regularly for any evidence of ingrown toenails, bruising, swelling, callus, blistering.
Keep active. Exercises can help you maintain strength and mobility in your feet and ankles, as well as provide pain relief.
Protect your feet. And be sure your shoes fit properly. We can give you advice on footwear to help with your physical activities.

October 11 - 17 is Foot Health Week

Your feet and lower limbs are often a critical factor in developing or avoiding non communicable health diseases elsewhere in your body. Even if it doesn't immediately seem connected to foot health, the link is real. Think obesity, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and a range of other conditions.

1 in 4 Australians who saw a podiatrist also had other health issues identified by their podiatrist. *

*According to the 2020 Foot Health Survey conducted by the Australian Podiatry Association.

If you suffer from obesity, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and a range of other conditions you may need to see a podiatrist. Find your local podiatrist at foothealthaustralia.org.au

We're excited to announce that we're now selling Archies thongs, just in time for summer and at a special introductory price!

Designed in Australia, Archies thongs provide real arch support, are made out of a super comfy material and have a tighter strap which means your toes don't have to grip to keep the thongs on your feet. All this means that they're much more comfortable and better for your feet than regular thongs.

For a short time we're selling Archies thongs at the special price of $35 (inc GST). Why not come in and try a pair?

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

We hope you are as excited as we are, that spring is here. A change to warmer weather and a sense of new beginning is filling the air.

Spring is a great time to get back to a regular exercise regime. We all tend to slowly ease off the winter hibernation mode and engage in more physical activities. But as we do that, remember to watch out for signs of heel pain. After a few months of hibernation, a sudden increase in physical demand for your Achilles tendon can stir up some old injuries or create new problems.

Posterior heel pain is a common manifestation of heel pain and it involves the relationship between the Achilles tendon and the heel bone. It is important to make sure you warm up before exercise and focus on calf muscle stretching afterwards to reduce the pull of the tendon. If your symptoms persist, you should see a podiatrist for advice and further investigation.

One of the common presentations of heel pain is at the bottom of the heel. This condition often involves our plantar fascia which is the big ligament under our foot arch. The pain originates from the inflammation of the ligament when placed under high pressure. Sometimes, the pain could also stem from the heel bone being irritated by the pull of the plantar fascia. In some cases, the presence of a heel spur could add some complexity in symptoms.
