This Saturday, May 17, is World Hypertension Day.
The theme for 2025 is "Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer."

At Perth Cardiovascular Institute, we support this global initiative by encouraging regular blood pressure screenings and sharing education on heart-healthy lifestyle choices. High blood pressure can go unnoticed—but it’s one of the leading risk factors for stroke, heart disease, and kidney disease.

❤Know your numbers. Make a healthy heart your priority.

Working together to improve heart health

Last month, Perth Cardiovascular Institute hosted Heart of the Matter, our GP education event focused on heart failure, prevention, and anticoagulation management.

Our specialists, Dr Susan Kuruvilla and Dr Athula Karu, led insightful presentations aimed at strengthening the knowledge and confidence of GPs across Perth.

At PCI, we’re committed not just to treating heart disease, but to preventing it—and to working with our healthcare partners to support the best outcomes for every patient.

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

At Perth Cardiovascular Institute, we offer a comprehensive range of cardiac tests and services to help diagnose and manage heart conditions. Our services include:

Electrocardiogram (ECG): Records the heart’s electrical activity to identify abnormalities.

Echocardiogram (ECHO): An ultrasound of the heart to acquire images and short video clips to assess the heart muscle, valves, blood vessels, and blood flow.

Stress Echocardiogram (Treadmill or Dobutamine): Evaluates heart function with an echocardiogram before and after stress. The Treadmill Stress Echo involves exercise, while the Dobutamine Stress Echo uses medication to simulate the effects of exercise for patients unable to walk on a treadmill.

Exercise Stress Test (Treadmill ECG): A treadmill-based test that monitors heart activity with an ECG while under physical exertion.

Holter Monitoring (24hr, 48hr, 72hr, 7-day): Continuously records heart rhythms over a specified period to detect heart rhythm abnormalities.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring: Monitors blood pressure over 24 hours to assess fluctuations throughout the day.

A test request is required from your GP or specialist to be eligible for a Medicare rebate (subject to Medicare rulings).

Our experienced team is dedicated to delivering high-quality cardiac care. Learn more about our tests and to book an appointment visit us at www.perthcardio.com.au.
