🦠Gastro is busy doing the rounds and we’re seeing an increase in patients presenting with it at Kinkaya Urgent Care 🦠

Symptoms include;
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Tummy Cramps / Pain
Fever

When to seek medical help;
Under 3 months of age
Unable to tolerate anything orally
Drowsy or lethargic
Decrease in urination or wet nappies, dry mouth, tongue or lips
Sunken eyes

⚠️ HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS ⚠️
Wash hands regularly using soap and water as many hand sanitizer gels don’t kill gastro germs.
Stay home from work, daycare, school for 48hours after symptoms disappear.

Whooping cough has hit record numbers in Perth and can be quite scary for parents to hear for the first time. Here’s what to look for and when you need to seek medical help.

🤧 Pertussis or ‘Whooping Cough’ usually starts with regular cold or flu like symptoms and then progresses to a cough that almost sounds like a ‘whoop’ noise when breathing in (sound on to hear an example 🔊)
If your child has any or all of these symptoms; cough that sounds like a ‘whoop’, lethargy, is vomiting after coughing, decreased appetite and water intake or fever we can help.

‼️If your child is under 3 months, has severe respiratory distress, blue lips or is increasingly unwell very quickly-please call 000 or go straight to your nearest emergency department.

⭐️The best prevention for whooping cough is vaccinations.
