Jaw pain isn’t always just about the jaw.
The jaw joint (TMJ) works closely with the neck, muscles and nervous system.
Because of this connection, jaw pain is often linked with symptoms such as:
• Neck pain
• Headaches
• Ear symptoms
• Shoulder tension
• Jaw clicking or tightness
Stress also plays a big role.
When the body is under stress, many people unconsciously clench their jaw, which increases tension in the surrounding muscles and joints.
Over time this can affect how the jaw moves and functions.
Chiropractic care focuses on how the jaw, neck and nervous system are working together.
In practice, treatment may involve improving movement in the neck and upper spine and helping the body unwind stress patterns.
I often use Neural Organisation Technique (NOT) which works with the nervous system to help restore better coordination between muscles and joints.
Because when the body moves better, the jaw often does too.
