The brain develops more in the first 5 years of life than at any other time 🤍🧠

In those early years, millions of neural connections are being formed every single second. Movement, touch, balance, feeding, crawling, walking, falls, growth spurts — it’s all shaping how the brain and body communicate.

Your child’s nervous system controls:
✨ Movement & coordination
✨ Sleep
✨ Digestion
✨ Emotional regulation
✨ Immune function

If the communication between the brain and body is under stress, the body adapts. Sometimes that shows up as tension, unsettled sleep, clumsiness, postural changes, or difficulty regulating big emotions.

Paediatric chiropractic care focuses on gently assessing spinal movement and nervous system function to support optimal communication during these critical developmental years. It’s calm, specific, and tailored to little bodies.

When the nervous system is supported early, the foundation for growth, learning and regulation is stronger.

Healthy development starts with healthy communication 🧠✨

Your nerves are your body’s master communication system ⚡️

Every movement you make, every breath you take, every heartbeat, hormone shift, digestive response and stress reaction — it all travels through your nervous system.

Your brain sends messages down the spinal cord and through your nerves to tell your body what to do. Your body sends messages back up to the brain to report what’s happening. It’s a constant two-way conversation.

But when there’s tension, poor movement patterns, stress, or spinal dysfunction, that communication can become less efficient. Not broken — just stressed. And when the nervous system is under stress, the body adapts.

That’s where chiropractic comes in 🤍

Chiropractors assess how your spine and joints are moving and how your nervous system is functioning. Gentle, specific adjustments help restore movement, reduce mechanical stress, and support clearer communication between the brain and body.

It’s not about “cracking backs.”
It’s about helping your nervous system regulate, adapt, and function at its best.

Better communication = better function.
And better function changes everything.

Your biggest flex shouldn’t be how busy you are.
It should be how regulated your nervous system is. 🤍

In a world that praises hustle, rushing, and running on adrenaline… being calm, grounded and present is powerful.

A regulated nervous system means:
✨ Better sleep
✨ Clearer thinking
✨ Improved digestion
✨ Less tension in your jaw, neck and shoulders
✨ More emotional resilience

When your body isn’t stuck in fight-or-flight, it can actually heal, adapt and function the way it’s designed to.

True strength isn’t pushing through stress.
It’s building a system that doesn’t live in survival mode.

Regulation > burnout. Every time.

“Is cracking dangerous?” 🤔

Short answer: No — chiropractic adjustments are very safe when performed correctly.

That ‘cracking’ sound isn’t bones or anything harmful. It’s simply gas releasing from the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles.

Adjustments are controlled, precise, and adapted to your body.

✨ And here’s something many people don’t realise…

If you’re not comfortable with cracking, you absolutely have options.

At Unwind Chiropractic and Wellness, I regularly use:
✔️ Low-force techniques
✔️ Gentle mobilisation
✔️ Soft tissue work
✔️ Instrument-assisted adjustments
✔️ Neural Organisation Technique (NOT)

NOT is a gentle, neurologically-based approach that works with the nervous system to help unwind tension patterns — without the need for cracking.

You can still experience excellent results in a way that feels comfortable for you.
Chiropractic care is never one-size-fits-all — it’s about finding the right approach for your body.

If you’ve been curious but hesitant, this is your reminder:

Jaw pain, headaches, and neck pain are often connected — and stress is usually the common thread.

When your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight, muscles tighten, breathing changes, and the jaw often becomes the body’s “holding zone.” Over time, that tension can show up as headaches, neck stiffness, or jaw discomfort that just won’t settle.

Chiropractic care works by supporting the nervous system, improving movement, and helping your body shift out of survival mode.

Why do chiropractors sometimes refer for X-rays? 🦴

Because seeing your spine matters.

X-rays allow us to assess spinal alignment, joint spacing, and areas of degeneration that we simply cannot feel with our hands alone. They help us understand how long stress has been present, how your body has adapted, and what type of care is safest and most appropriate for you.

In some cases, X-rays help us:
• Identify abnormal spinal curves or postural patterns
• See signs of wear, degeneration, or past injury
• Rule out fractures, pathology, or contraindications
• Decide if chiropractic care is suitable - or if referral is needed
• Modify techniques to be gentler and more specific

📱 Tech Neck: More Than Just a Sore Neck

Do you ever notice your head drifting forward while scrolling, texting, or working at a screen?

That posture is commonly called “tech neck” — and it places significant strain on your neck, shoulders, and nervous system.

When your head moves forward, the weight your neck has to support increases dramatically. Over time, this can lead to:
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Headaches
- Jaw tension
- Upper back tightness
- Fatigue and reduced focus

However, tech neck isn’t just about posture.

Prolonged screen use and sustained forward head positions can keep your nervous system in a low-grade stress response. Muscles stay switched on, breathing becomes shallow, and your body struggles to fully relax — even when you’re resting.

✨ What can help?
- Regular posture breaks
- Screen height awareness
- Gentle movement throughout the day
- Chiropractic care to support spinal alignment and nervous system regulation

Your body isn’t failing you — it’s adapting to the demands placed on it. With the right support, those patterns can soften.

If you’re noticing tension, headaches, or neck pain that won’t settle, your nervous system may be asking for support 🤍
