Looking after clients in Bullsbrook today 🐎

There is no better way to kick off the morning than sharing my breakfast with Rocco 🐶🐾

Usually Rocco likes to jump into my car when I pull up but today there was a surprise for him I think it’s safe to say I spoil all the fur babies on my runs 😍

Partnered Muscle Pairs 💪

Did you know your horses muscles don’t work in isolation? They operate in pairs also known as antagonistic muscle groups how cool is that what that means is that one muscle contracts while its partner relaxes this is what creates smooth and controlled movement 🐎

One of the reasons muscle release is so important and one of the biggest reasons you hear me say MUSCLES MATTER!!! Why does this matter you might wonder? Well balanced muscle pairs help create healthy posture and movement which helps your horse along its strength building journey this plays a huge part in injury prevention because if one of the pairing partners is not creating affective movements that can lead to strain and imbalance over time which then leads to unwanted tension for your horse 🐴

There are many examples of these pairs so to put it into perspective for you here are a couple of examples 🐎

The Serratus Ventralis one of my favourite pairs as it plays so many cool roles for your horses like stabilisation extension and more depending if your horse is in motion or standing 💪

First the cervical part which has attachments to the cervical vertebrae and inserts itself into the scapula cartilage its function is to pull the upper portion of the scapula up and forward taking your horses leg backwards

Then we have the thoracic part which also attaches to the cartilage of the scapula and inserts at around the 9th rib it is responsible for pulling the scapula back and down bringing your horses leg forward when in motion but when your horse is stationary it helps support the trunk 💪

Another great example is the pectoral muscles both superficial and deep they are located on the chest of your horse and they adduct the forelimbs or bring forward the midline and they certainly play a vital role in stabilizing the shoulder and supporting the weight of your horses forehand 🐎

Some others also include the tensor fasciae latea and Semitendinosus the tensor fasciae latae flexes the hip and extends the stifle while the semitendinosus which is apart of the hamstring extends the hip and flexes the stifle pretty cool stuff 😎

And to think our horses have around 700 muscles and these are just a few examples of how some of them work together to create balance and movement and this is why one of the reasons correct training and therapy like sports massage therapy plays such a vital role in keeping these groups of muscles functioning in a productive way it really is all about supporting your horses body 🙌

To think this is just the tip of the iceberg with so many incredible parts cool names functions and connections throughout all horses they really are so incredible and it’s important we do our best for them all ❤️

I can certainly say I love what I do and it’s my life’s passion to do my best throughout every appointment I share with your horses so they can continue to feel their very best because that’s what really matters 👌

Your horses quality movement matters💪

Not all movement is created equal it’s about creating awareness in our purposeful exercises as we develop strength and balance through proprioception this helps our horses in the most beneficial way because repetition isn’t about the quantity it’s about the quality in what we do and that’s where knowledge is power 🐎

Understanding movement and biomechanics is one of the major keys used in supporting your horses it doesn’t just stop with the bodywork appointments as many of you know through your time spent with me we target so much more we create healthy movement patterns for your horses along the way to really elevate each horse to the next level it’s all about the quality that sets them up to succeed and we see it so often in the results 🤩

It really is true we never stop learning and one thing that is very important is the way we implement movement in our groundwork sessions that is everything and mindful movement is such a huge part in your horses routine along side our appointments 😍

Sometimes we most certainly all need support outside of ourselves when it comes to feeling a little stuck or wanting to build your knowledge and skill set while building your horses confidence and relationship with you so if your looking for some handy tips to create a great foundation in your groundwork or even just seeking some guidance and support then this affordable online library is for you 👇👇👇

Investing in our knowledge to set our horses up is everything 🫶

Here you will find an array of videos covering many different topics and learn how I apply my techniques to resolve issues and how I implement my techniques into my everyday training.

There are lots of great benefits from routine bodywork for your equine partners 🐎

Your horses body is their greatest asset its what carries you and them through everything we ask of them so I’m sure we can all agree your horses being able to perform at their best plays such a huge roll in so many aspects 🐎

Just like us they get muscle tension and can feel restricted which we know impacts their movement and in turn then affects how they feel and perform that’s why our appointments play such an important role in maintaining your horses healthy movement and comfort 🐎

We do this by improving their flexibility and range of motion as we reduce stiffness and promote circulation all while we enhance their performance and sport early signs of discomfort for injury prevention 🙌

Regular visits allows us to keep track in support your horses so they can perform at their very best while we aid in a quicker recovery and work to build each horse’s strengths as an individual because we all want our horses to be able to perform to their fullest potential as we support them throughout their journey 👌

We are coming to that time of the year where we have better riding weather and we all start to enjoy doing more with our horses so here’s your reminder to get in touch to secure your appointments 🐎

What an absolute pleasure this mare was to treat this morning 🫶

She spent 10 years as a bucking horse and was so incredible throughout this treatment while I put my hands all over her 🤲

As you can see here she really enjoyed her session and couldn’t get enough by the end of it which was just so nice to share space with her these horses have a job as a bucking horse and it’s so beautiful to see her having a new purpose after that career finished and she is doing fantastic 🙌

I am really excited to see her progress back into riding with her people she is doing so well coming back into work and I can’t wait to see her out and about in the future 🐎

What a special little mare she is 🐎

Sometimes it’s not about the sessions themselves my support goes much further than just that 🐎

Today’s first client stop was over at valley equine for a check in with a pony that is there and of course a conversation with the lovely staff at valley ☺️

Then it was over to Belvoir for the next appointment seen us in a lameness exam then another appointment straight after for a pre purchase exam so the day was full of watching making plans and sharing space and time with some wonderful vets and staff 🫶

Then a stop over for a treatment session on my way home to finish off the day 🐎

It’s always nice to understand what we are finding in our appointments matters and that we are on track 🙌

My services go beyond just our scheduled appointments because it really does matter to me to get the full picture for each horse and if you feel you need support at your vet visits I am happy to be included because team work makes all the difference 💪

Talk about photo bombing😂

This is the nose of vinnie 🤭

Harry and I were really enjoying our time together today and we had so many wonderful moments that Karen tried to capture but of course vinnie had other ideas as he tried to smooch his mum and make it all about himself 🤣

Great day spent in Bullsbrook and lower chittering the weather was actually alright during our sessions today 🫶

EQUINE THERAPISTS 🐎

Warning long post which I don’t usually do a lot of social media isn’t my strong suit it’s helping your horses but this one is very special so here it goes 🫣

Something I wanted to talk about is how uniquely different all equine therapists can be as we all shape and shift our own craft along the way 🤲

We never stop growing and learning as we evolve our knowledge and skill set from the training and qualifications we complete along the way to the incredible other body workers that we learn from and share time with to all the outside professionals we invest our time in learning from and much more 🫶

Some therapists lean into a science driven approach others go by leaning into their intuition and feel but all share one thing and that’s a deep dedication to the horse’s wellbeing because the horse should always be put first we spend years of our time learning and understanding every aspect of the horses makeup so we can better our craft all because it truly is our life’s passion and work ❤️

Over the years I have been so lucky to learn hold and share space with so many incredibly knowledgeable talented and inspiring equine advocates and body workers each one different and unique in their skill set but always the same so driven and determined to be dedicated to making it better for our horses which I am so very grateful for 🙏

Which leads me to who I am as a therapist? I work with a deep calming support as I hold a safe space for every horse I step into and you will often here me breathing deeply as i connect and do a lot of energy and healing work because I truly do connect with each horse as I work and flow through my intuitions sometimes I get pulled in one place or another and don’t rely so much on routine while it certainly holds a place with me in my appointments so much is feel as I lean into my own craft I continue to create because we are constantly evolving as the horse teaches us to me it is truly something so magical as they speak to me in many ways that is such a gift I am grateful for 🙏

When I am with a horse it’s not just massage it’s something so much more and I hope that shines through in what I offer every horse I put my hands on because this truly is my life’s work and I know so many other therapists in this industry feel the same way so thank you to all those therapists that dedicate there life’s work to healing horses 💪

On the other side of my energy work is my manual release and so many of you hear me say the words their body doesn’t lie and for me understanding which layer we have in front of us in each appointment is certainly crucial as we take in the whole picture and target manual manipulation as we create deep tissue release to ensure every horse can move and perform at their best shows in the results along the way and that I love about what we as therapist offer each horse 🐎

Just like you all often hear me say no two horses are the same no two appointments or treatments for your horses are the same and no two therapists are either each one special and unique in their abilities we all create and develops our own style shaped by the horses we have met the people who have influenced us and the skills we have learned along the way and some have gifts that words can’t express but what is always the same is the passion love and dedication to the horse that drives us 🙌

The beauty of this craft is that it’s authentic personal and ever evolving and that is something so special and I know our horses truly are appreciative and thankful for the incredible work our body workers share with them and at the end of the day it’s the horse who gets to reap the rewards of our unique touch 🤲🫶🐎

Here’s to being authentic in what you have to offer I know my biggest compliment I get from so many is magic hands so here’s to all the magic hands out there doing what means the most 🙌

From every horse thank you 🐎
